1 Assignments Overview Assignments are cnsidered cntent. There is nt by default, an Assignment link n the Curse menu. An Assignment menu link can be created by adding a Cntent Area called Assignments and then creating r mving assignments int that flder. 1. Nte: see Uplading and Managing Cntent fr directins in adding cntent areas. Assignments can be lcated anywhere in the curse cntent r learning mdules. Assignments cannt at this time be cpied t anther curse. The explanatin fr this is that an assignment includes the grading center clumn. N mve r cpy item ptin fr an Assignment Create Assignment Created in Edit Mde 2. Click Cntent (r the lcatin where yu want t add the assignment) 3. Click Create Assessment>Assignment 4. Create assignment with Text editr r brwse fr file and add a link name. 5. Add Attachment Files, add additinal assignment dcumentatin. Select, Brwse My Cmputer r Brwse Curse. 6. Screen capture shws Brwsing Curse ptin. 1. Select curse. 2. Select any files. 3. Click Submit.

2 7. Cntinue t set assignment ptins fr: Grading Pints, Max number f pints earned fr the assignment. Availability, the assignment can be made available t students after it is assigned t an individual r grup. T make an assignment available, select Yes. Attempts set the number f times that the student may submit the assignment. Limit Availability and Due Date, set limitatins by calendar date. Nte: students will have unlimited access t the assignment by default unless limited by the instructr. Be sure t check Display After, Display Until, Due Date. Track Number f Views, tracking statistics fr the assignment. Select Yes t recrd the number f times the assignment is viewed and by whm.

3 8. Recipients, assign the assignment t Individual Students r Grups f Students. 9. Save Assignment Optins After the assignment has been created, yu can: Edit the assignment. Add Adaptive Release settings (frmerly Selective Release). Change Review Status. Add Metadata. Turn n/ff Statistics Tracking. View a Statistics Reprt r User Prgress. Mve r Delete the assignment. Add Links frm an assignment lcated in a central repsitry t any number f mdules, flders, r tls. Turn Edit Mde ff t preview the assignment frm a student's perspective. Assciating and Managing Rubrics Assciated rubrics are visible under the Grading sectin. (nt currently enabled) T assciate a rubric: 10. Pint t Add Rubric and chse ne f the ptins.

4 Select Rubric assciates a rubric that has already been created in the Rubrics area f Curse Tls. Create New Rubric pens a pp-up windw t allw immediate creatin f a new assciated rubric. Create Frm Existing uses a previusly created rubric as a template t create a new assciated rubric. Nte: When assciating a pints-based rubric, the ptin t use the rubric's pints value as the Pints Pssible will be available after clicking Submit n the rubric creatin r selectin page. Managing Assciated Rubrics Under an assciated rubric's Name, manage assciated rubrics using the icns t: Remve Rubric Assciatin View Rubric Edit Rubric. Remve Rubric Assciatin severs the cnnectin t the rubric, but des nt delete the rubric itself. Nte: If the rubric has already been used fr grading in this assessment, remving the assciatin will als remve thse evaluatins and the attempts will need t be re-graded. View Rubric pens a preview that cannt be edited, with a link t view assciated items and print the rubric. Edit Rubric pens the assciated rubric t allw fr immediate editing. If the rubric has been used fr grading, it cannt be edited. Rubric Types: Used fr Grading Used fr Secndary Evaluatin Nte: If multiple rubrics are assciated, nly ne can be the primary grading rubric. Shw Rubric t Students ffers fur ptins fr rubric visibility: N des nt allw students t view the rubric at any time. Yes (With Rubric Scres) allws students t view the rubric when the item is made available, including pssible pint r percentage values. Yes (Withut Rubric Scres) allws students t view the rubric when the item is made available, but des nt include the pssible pint r percentage values. After Grading allws students t view the rubric nly after grading n their submissin is cmpleted. Grading Assignments Assignments are reviewed and graded nw in the Grade Center instead f the Assignment Drpbx. A grade clumn is autmatically created when the assignment is created.

5 Assignments that have been submitted, but nt graded, are indicated with an exclamatin mark. Assignments can be dwnladed t yur cmputer t review ffline instead f reviewing them nline frm the Grade Center: single file r zipped file. T Grade an Assignment: 1. On the Cntrl Panel, lcate the Grade Center. 2. Click Full grade Center. 3. Click the actin link menu and select Attempt. 4. Enter a grade in the Grade Current Attempt field. 5. Enter any feedback fr the student in the Feedback t User sectin. 6. Grading ntes are nt seen by the student and is fr the instructr's private ntes. 7. Click Cancel, Submit, Save as Draft t revisit later, r Save and Exit t finish. T Dwnlad Assignments fr Grading: 1. On the Cntrl panel, lcate the Grade Center. 2. Click Full Grade Center r Assignments. 3. Lcate the assignment clumn cntaining the files that yu want t dwnlad. 4. Click the actin link menu and select Assignment File Dwnlad. 5. On the Dwnlad Assignment page, select the student submissins t dwnlad. 6. Click Submit. 7. On the next page, click Dwnlad Assignments Nw. 8. Click OK t return t the Grade Center.
