1 Sponsorship options Dear Sir/Madame, On behalf of the organising committee I want to invite you to sponsor the 8 th European Zoo Nutrition Conference, which will take place on the 22 nd -25 th of January 2015 at Royal Burgers Zoo in Arnhem. The conference theme will be Feeding zoo animals for health, welfare and conservation The biennial conference has a long-standing tradition, and is regularly attended by delegates from about 20 countries, representing zoo nutritionists, veterinarians, curators, animal keepers, staff from higher education institutes and private individuals. The conference presents an important opportunity for individuals involved in zoo animal nutrition to exchange information. Delegates are interested in the range of products available, in new products, and in making contacts with producers and sellers of zoo foods. The conference thus offers a prime opportunity for you to present your company and your product range. Details on sponsorship connected to physical presence at the conference are given on the following pages. Additionally, we offer the possibility for your company to be listed in a special section of the abstract book and on the EAZA homepage. This section will be dedicated to a listing of company names and contact details, sorted according to the range of products offered. This additional sponsoring option is created in response to the expressed needs of conference delegates. Often, we hear a question like; Who sells lucerne hay, or day-chicks, or horse meat in our part of Europe? It is our intention to provide conference delegates with an index-type answer to these kinds of questions. For your company, this option offers the opportunity of low-cost sponsorship (100 Euros) without physical presence at the conference. Details can also be found on the following pages. 4 Explanation of the Index in the Abstract Book and on the EAZA website Companies/Providers will be listed without logos, without further layout, as: Name (name of representative optional), postal address, phone number, website, contact. The Index will be on the EAZA website (from February 2015 onwards) until it is updated during sponsorship for the next EAZA Zoo Animal Nutrition Conference (foreseen for 2017). We feel that such an index list is an important tool for conference delegates, and for zoos in general. Quite often, the question arises where one can buy certain items or services. By providing conference delegates in Europe with such a list, we hope it will be easier to find the producers/suppliers they need. 5 General information on the European Zoo Nutrition Conference The zoo community s interest in nutrition has grown over the past few decades. In Europe, dedicated conferences were established in 1999 by progressive zoo professionals. They have been very successful in gathering a diverse group of people involved in the formulation and management of diets for wild animals and those doing related research. Subsequently, the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) encouraged the creation of a specialist advisory group the EAZA Nutrition Group that seeks to promote and support nutrition in zoological institutions as an essential component of their conservation mission. The EAZA Nutrition Group is responsible for organising the conferences. The majority of scientific contributions are published as a book series Zoo Animal Nutrition. More applied topics are collated as articles in special editions of a newsletter produced by EAZA (approximate circulation >300 organisations and individuals). We anticipate the 8th European Zoo Nutrition Conference at Royal Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, from the 22-25th of January 2015, to be well attended by between delegates including zoo nutritionists, veterinarians, curators, animal keepers, staff from higher education institutes and private individuals. Over 20 countries from Europe and beyond were represented at previous conferences.
