4 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I apply to be registered on the qualification? You can no longer register onto the BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources. This qualification has been superseded with BSB41013 Certificate IV in Human Resources. Please refer to the AIM WA website for details on this new version from October How do I enrol on the training programs that lead to the qualification? Complete and submit the Enrolment Form contained in this information kit detailing your selected dates to the Client Service Team, book your programs on-line, or call to speak to a member of the team. Current participants are required to complete all necessary training before 18 March 2014 to achieve this qualification. What are the assessment requirements for this qualification? Participants are required to complete all seven programs below and successfully fulfil the requirements of the assignment tasks, or apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Current participants are required to complete all necessary assessment requirements before 18 March 2014 to achieve this qualification. RPL is a process that enables those who are interested in gaining the qualification to be granted exemption from some or all training programs. How long do I have to complete the qualification? This qualification has now been superseded and current participants only have until 18 March 2014 to complete all requirements for this qualification. What is the difference between the two qualifications? The qualification structure has been revised to reflect a broader application within a range of human resource roles and contexts. The total number of units remain at 10. Core units have increased from 4 to 6 and elective units have been reduced from 6 to 4. How much will it cost? Your investment for any qualification will vary according to the programs you select, and whether or not you choose to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). On most programs, additional fees apply for assessment. Assessment and RPL Fees are calculated per Unit of Competency. Additional travel costs and fees apply for on-site assessment outside Perth metropolitan area. Qualification Level Per Unit of Competency Corporate/Professional Non Member Member Advanced Diploma or Diploma $ $ Certificate IV $ $ Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources Reference Kit V3.doc
5 Can I use AIM WA Training Vouchers? AIM WA Training Vouchers can be used to pay for up to 50% of the program fees (in $50 increments) but may not be used to pay Assessment and RPL fees. If you are not a Corporate or Professional Member of AIM WA, call us on (08) to find out more about the benefits of membership. What if I need help finishing the qualification? The Assessment Department can assist with your queries or arrange for an assessor to contact you. We will help get you on the right track! Remember you now only have until 18 March 2014 to submit all assignments for assessment. What if I am asked for further evidence or to re-submit my assignment? Your assessor will contact you if you are required to submit further information to satisfy the rules of evidence the Assessor will guide you as to how you can go about filling the gaps. Provided the additional evidence is submitted within a reasonable time-frame, no additional fee will be applied. If your assessor determines that you are not yet competent, you may resubmit your assignment as many times as required. Re-assessment is charged per Unit of Competence, at the standard rate. What if I already have the skills? As an alternative to attending formal learning sessions, it may be possible to gain nationally recognised qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). In order to have the skills you have gained through life or work experience formally recognised, you need to provide evidence of how you have obtained that expertise or knowledge. If the skills and knowledge are gained through accredited training, a process of Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) will be applied. Before applying for RPL you will need to refer to the relevant units of competency. These can be found on the National Register or contact the Assessment Department for a copy. Comparing your skills against the learning outcomes of the training programs you wish to gain exemption for is also a good starting point. If you think your competence matches the requirements of some or all of the units of competence, complete the application form selecting the RPL option. We will send you an RPL kit to guide you in compiling a portfolio of evidence. Please contact the Assessment Department to discuss your options or to apply for any of the above. When will a Qualification be issued? Statements of Attainment are issued upon successful demonstration of competence against nationally recognised unit(s) of competency. Once you have completed all of the required units of competency for your qualification and received Statements of Attainment for them you will be issued with a testamur (the Qualification) as well as a Record of your Results. Your qualification will also be professionally framed. Please note that it will take approximately 4-6 weeks, from the time you submit your assessment, to issue you with your Statement of Attainment/Qualification. Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources Reference Kit V3.doc 5

Contact the Assessment Department for a PDF copy of your Certification documents at no charge. We can also reissue your Certification documents administrative costs apply. Re-issuing of Certification Documents Fee Statement of Attainment $40.00 Qualification and Record of Results $60.00 Framed Qualification and Record of Results $ Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources Reference Kit V3.doc

11 INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT The status and range of responsibilities of the human resource management function have increased substantially in recent years. The effective human resource specialist needs to be not only a skilled practitioner, but also a counsellor, negotiator and adviser. This program will develop the skills and knowledge which must be acquired by human resource professionals early in their careers, and to provide the opportunity for line managers to widen their knowledge. INTRODUCTION TO ACCOUNTING What do you think when you see a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet or a set of budget figures? Are you confused or intimidated? If so, this program is for you. During the program you will come to grips with these statements and the basic language and concepts of accounting. WORKPLACE SAFETY Promoting a safer working environment is not just a consideration it is a major reality in today s workplace. In this program, participants will gain an understanding of the principles and practices that support an effective occupational health and safety system and identify safety issues that need to be addressed in their workplace. EFFECTIVE WORKPLACE RELATIONSHIPS For any business department, team or group to work effectively, it is important to ensure that good workplace relationships exist. This program differentiates between good relationships and effective relationships, and examines the way that we can ensure this occurs in our workplace. This program explores the context of relationship building and looks at how we can create the effective workplace relationships that ensure the people we manage become more effective through better communication, access to relevant information, and produce a better quality service. Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources Reference Kit V3.doc 11
12 PERSONAL WORK PRIORITIES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT The increased pace of life in the workplace and home is placing mounting pressure on workers. To thrive in this environment, it is important to recognise that what is a real priority in our work life requires altering attitudes and thinking patterns. This practical program aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to face choosing and setting priorities head-on, set realistic goals and targets, organise work activities and achieve work life balance whilst meeting agreed goals and expectations. DEVELOP WORKPLACE LEARNING Developing people through the establishment of a culture of learning is becoming increasingly popular. Organisations are beginning to recognise the many opportunities for learning that exist beyond traditional structured approaches. This program will help you recognise and capitalise on these opportunities, and possibly help you to identify new ways of learning in the workplace that make sense. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Market forces place increased pressure on organisations to improve their products and services. To remain competitive in this environment, organisations must continually seek ways to improve all aspects of their business, including workplace relationships, processes, products and services. While the focus on achieving quality products and services is not new, it has shifted from being reactive (inspect and fix) to pro-active (plan to get it right the first time). Through case studies and activities, this practical program will equip participants with the vital skills and knowledge to ensure the quality and continuous improvement approach becomes a natural way of thinking. 12 Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB41007 Certificate IV in Human Resources Reference Kit V3.doc
