3 This process/course is designed for candidates who currently hold a Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (BSB51307) and now wish to obtain a Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51312) Entry Requirements Candidates must hold a Qualification/Statement of Attainment (provide a certified copy of their Certificate and/or a Record of Results) with the 5 core units from the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41407or equivalent, being: BSBWHS402A Assist with compliance with WHS laws BSBWHS405A - Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a WHS management system BSBWHS403A Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation process BSBWHS404A Contribute to the WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities BSBWHS406A Assist with responding to incidents. In addition to the above, participants must provide satisfactory evidence of completion of the Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety BSB51307 (Provide a certified copy of their Certificate/Testamur and a Record of Results). Enrolments cannot be accepted into this process/course without evidence of completion of the entry requirement. Duration and Study Options In order to start your upgrade process you will need to get a certified copy of your Diploma. Candidates undertaking this process/course will have six (6) months for completion by completing the short upgrade assessment tool which is available on-line as well as one additional RPL or Credit Transfer Unit. Learning Outcomes The Diploma of Work Health and Safety provides participants with the knowledge and skills to: Recognise, evaluate and manage health and safety hazards in the workplace; Administer various work health and safety functions, planning, and policy and process developments in the workplace; Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organisation; Developing actions, interventions and measures to prevent re-occurrence of incidents; Achieving change in WHS matters; Gather and analyse relevant WHS information and data; Contribute to the implementation, review and improvement of the WHS plan and WHS management system. 3 P a g e V e r s i o n / 7 / 1 4

4 BSB51312 Packaging Rules Total number of units = 9 5 core units plus 4 elective units of which: At least 3 units must be Group A below and the remaining elective unit may be from: Group A or Group B below Any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at the same qualification level or, if not listed below, from a Certificate IV or an Advanced Diploma. The elective units chosen must be relevant to the work outcome and meet industry needs. 5 Units of Competency for which Direct Credit will be granted (Candidates shall provide a certified copy of their Certificate/Testamur and a Record of Results) Core Electives Achieved BSBOHS503B Assist in the design and development of OHS participative arrangements will provide direct credit for BSBWHS502A Manage effective WHS consultation and participation processes Achieved BSBOHS504B Apply principles of OHS risk management will provide direct credit for BSBWHS503A Contribute to the systematic management of WHS risk Achieved BSBOHS508B Participate in the investigation of incidents will provide direct credit for BSBWHS505A Investigate WHS incidents Achieved BSBOHS506B - Monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associated with plant will provide direct credit for BSBWHS508A - Manage WHS hazards associated with plant Units of Competency required to be completed by candidates undertaking process/course Core BSBWHS504A Manage WHS hazards and risks BSBWHS506A Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining WHS management systems And any three (3) of the electives meeting the requirements of the packaging information. Elective units required for course completion may vary dependent upon electives the candidate has achieved through prior training. Electives will be agreed with candidate prior to commencement. Where a direct credit can be granted (meeting the packaging rules) this will be done.
