4 CONTROLS: Ersin and Sediment Cntrls CONTROLS: Temprary Stabilizatin: Tp Sil stckpiles and disturbed prtins f the site where cnstructin activity temprarily ceases fr at least 21 days will be stabilized with temprary seed n later than 14 days frm the last cnstructin activity in that area. Permanent Stabilizatin: Disturbed prtins f the site (as finished t final plan line and grade) where cnstructin permanently ceases shall be stabilized with permanent seed and mulch n later than 14 days after the last cnstructin activity. CONTROLS(cntinued) : Ersin cntrl practices will include silt fence installatin, stabilized cnstructin entrance, ditch checks, and inlet and pipe prtectin as specified by IDOT STANDARD STORM WATER MANAGEMENT: Strm Water Drainage will be prvided by surface runff. When cnstructin is cmplete the entire site will be seeded. OTHER CONTROLS: Waste Dispsal: Waste Materials: All waste materials will be cllected and stred in a securely lidded metal dumpster rented frm a lcal cmpany, which is a licensed slid waste management cmpany. The dumpster will meet all lcal and any State slid waste management regulatins. All trash and cnstructin debris frm the site will be depsited in the dumpster. The dumpster will be emptied a minimum f nce per week r mre ften if necessary, and all trash will be hauled t a licensed landfill. N cnstructin waste materials will be buried nsite. All persnnel will be instructed regarding the crrect prcedure fr waste dispsal. Ntices stating these practices will be psted in the ffice trailer. The site superintendent (the individual wh manages the day-t-day site peratins) will be respnsible fr seeing that these prcedures are fllwed. Hazardus Waste: All hazardus water materials will be dispsed f in the manner specified by lcal r State regulatins r by the manufacturer. Site persnnel will be instructed in these practices by the site superintendent (the individual wh manages day-t-day site peratins). He/She will be respnsible fr seeing that these practices are fllwed. Sanitary Waste: The site shall be prvided with prtable accmmdatins fr the use f prject emplyees and site inspectin representatives. The prtable units shall cmply with the requirements f the State and Lcal Bards f Health, r f ther authrities having jurisdictin. All sanitary waste will be cllected frm the prtable unit by a licensed sanitary waste management cntractr, r as required by lcal regulatin. Interval f pumping units shall be as required by lcal Public Health Authrity. Offsite Vehicle Tracking: Any excess mud, dirt r rck tracked frm the site t the adjacent rad will be remved. The site cnstructin entrance shall include a stabilized entrance as shwn n the plans. There will be n cncrete washut facility n the premises.
5 TIMING OF CONTROL MEASURES : Silt fence installatin, stabilized cnstructin entrance, installatin f ditch checks, and inlet and pipe prtectin prir t disturbance f individual areas will take place; seeding will ccur as individual areas are cmpleted. Areas where cnstructin activity temprarily ceases fr mre than 21 days will be stabilized with temprary seed within 14 days f the last disturbance. Once cnstructin activity ceases permanently in an area, said area will be stabilized with permanent seed and mulch. CERTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS: The Strm Water Pllutin Preventin Plan (SWPPP) reflects the best engineering practices fr strm water management and ersin and sediment cntrl. Applicable cntrl measures in accrdance with the I.E.P.A. Standards and Specificatins fr Sil Ersin and Sediment Cntrl and the Illinis Urban Manual (December 2002 editin) are incrprated as part f this plan. MAINTENANCE/INSPECTION PROCEDURES: Ersin and Sediment Cntrl Inspectin and Maintenance Practices: Prtins will be denuded at a time All cntrl measures will be inspected at least nce each week and fllwing any strm event f 0.5 inches r greater. All measures will be maintained in gd wrking rder; if a repair is necessary it will be initiated within 24 hurs f reprt. Built up sediment will be remved frm silt fence when it has reached ne-third f the height f the fence. Silt fence will be inspected fr depth f sediment, tears, t see if the fabric is securely attached t the fence psts, and t see that the fence psts are firmly in the grund. Temprary and permanent seeding and planting will be inspected fr bare spts, washuts, and healthy grwth. A maintenance inspectin reprt will be made after each inspectin. A cpy f the reprt frm t be cmpleted by the inspectr is attached. The site superintendent will select individuals wh will be respnsible fr inspectins maintenance and repair activities, and filling ut the inspectin and maintenance reprt(s). Persnnel selected fr inspectin respnsibilities will receive training frm the site superintendent. They will train in all the inspectin and maintenance practices necessary fr keeping the ersin and sediment cntrls used nsite in gd wrking rder.
6 MAINTENANCE/INSPECTION PROCEDUES (CONTINUED) Nn-Strm Water Discharges It is expected that the fllwing nn-strm water discharges will ccur frm the site during the cnstructin perid: Pavement wash waters (where n spills r leaks f txic r hazardus materials have ccurred) Uncntaminated grundwater (frm dewater excavatin) if required

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING: The fllwing gd husekeeping practices will be fllwed nsite during the cnstructin prject. An effrt will be made t stre nly enugh prducts required t d the jb. All materials stred n site will be stred in a neat, rderly manner in their apprpriate cntainers and, if pssible, under a rf r ther enclsure. Prducts will be kept in their riginal cntainers with the riginal manufacturer s label. Substances will nt be mixed with ne anther unless recmmended by the manufacturer. Whenever pssible, all f a prduct will be used up befre dispsing f the cntainer. Manufacturer s recmmendatins fr prper use and dispsal will be fllwed The site superintendent will inspect daily t ensure prper use and dispsal f materials nsite. HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS: These practices are used t reduce the risks assciated with hazardus materials. Prducts will be kept in riginal cntainers unless they are nt resealable Original labels and material safety data sheets will be retained; they cntain imprtant prduct infrmatin. If surplus prduct must be dispsed f, manufacturer s r lcal and state recmmended methds f prper dispsal will be fllwed
8 SPILL PREVENTION (cntinued) Prduct Specific Practices The fllwing prduct specific practices will be fllwed nsite: PETROLEUM PRODUCTS: All nsite vehicles will be mnitred fr leaks and receive regular preventative maintenance t reduce the chance f leakage. Petrleum prducts will be stred in tightly sealed cntainers which are clearly labeled. Any asphalt substances used nsite will be applied accrding t the manufacturer s recmmendatins. FERTILIZERS: Fertilizers used will be applied nly in the minimum amunts recmmended by the manufacturer. Once applied, fertilizer will be wrked int the sil t limit expsure t strm water. Strage will be in a cvered shed. The cntents f any partially used bags f fertilizer will be transferred t a sealable plastic bin t avid spills. PAINTS: All cntainers will be tightly sealed and stred when nt required fr use. Excess paint will nt be discharged t the strm sewer system but will be prperly dispsed f accrding t the manufacturer s instructins r State and Lcal Regulatins. CONCRETE TRUCKS: Cncrete trucks will discharge surplus cncrete r drum wash water n the site, but nly in lcatins apprved by the Site Superintendent. Spill Cntrl Practices: In additin t the gd husekeeping and material management practices discussed in the previus sectins f this plan, the fllwing practices will be fllwed fr spill preventin and cleanup: Manufacturers recmmended methds fr spill cleanup will be clearly psted and site persnnel will be made aware f the prcedures and the lcatin f the infrmatin and cleanup supplies. Materials and equipment necessary fr spill cleanup will be kept in the material strage area nsite. Equipment and materials will include but nt be limited t brms, dust pans, mps, rags, glves, gggles, kitty litter, sand, sawdust, and plastic and metal trash cntainers specifically fr this purpse. All spills will be cleaned up immediately after discvery. The spill area will be kept well ventilated and persnnel will wear apprpriate prtective clthing t prevent injury frm cntact with a hazardus substance. Spills f txic r hazardus material will be reprted t the apprpriate State r Lcal Gvernment Agency, regardless f the size The spill preventin plan will be adjusted t include measures t prevent this type f spill frm re-ccurring and hw t clean up the spill shuld anther ccur. A descriptin f the spill, its cause, and the cleanup measures will als be included. The site superintendent respnsible fr the day t day site peratins will be the spill preventin and cleanup crdinatr. He/She will designate ther site persnnel wh will receive spill preventin and cleanup training. These individuals will als becme respnsible fr particular phase f preventin and cleanup. The names f respnsible spill persnnel will be psted in the material strage area and in the ffice trailer nsite.
