1 Shre Up CT Eligible Prgram Expenses The csts assciated with the fllwing activities directly related t a prperty elevatin prject are generally cnsidered eligible csts under the Shre Up CT Prgram. Eligibility is subject t change withut ntice as a result f lcal, state, r federal requirements. Engineering services fr design, structural feasibility analysis, and cst estimate preparatin; Surveying (including archaelgical surveying), sil sampling, cmpletin f elevatin certificate, title search, legal and/r permitting fees, prject administratin, and cnstructin management; Discnnectin f all utilities; New NFIP cmpliant fundatins built t meet 500-year plus ne ft freebard standard fr residential prjects r higher if required by DEEP (residential). New NFIP cmplaint fundatins built t 100-year plus ne ft freebard fr cmmercial prjects r higher if required by DEEP (nn-residential). Physical elevatin f the structure and subsequent lwering and attachment f the structure nt a new fundatin; Cnstructin f a flr system that meets minimum building cde requirements when the existing flr system cannt be elevated r is nt apprpriate fr the new fundatin; Recnnecting utilities and extending lines and pipes as necessary and elevating all utilities and service equipment; Nte: FOR COMPLETED PROJECTS (REFINANCE ONLY) If the entire plumbing system was damaged as a result f the elevatin (such as what typically ccurs in a slab elevatin), the replacement system is eligible. Further dcumentatin f the damage may be required. Debris dispsal and ersin cntrl related t the elevatin prject; Csts fr repair and restratin f lawns, sidewalks, and driveways if damaged by elevatin activities; Nte: Phts f lawns, sidewalks, and driveways pre-cnstructin, pst-cnstructin, and pst-restratin must be submitted in rder fr this expense t be apprved. Additinal dcumentatin may be required. Cnstructin f a utility rm abve the new elevatin nly if there is n existing space within the huse fr this purpse r there is n alternative cst-effective way t elevate the utilities; Elevatin r cnstructin f new stairs, landings, and railings t access the elevated living space per minimum cde r lcal rdinance; [Fr Residential Prperties] Cnstructin f American with Disabilities Act (ADA)-cmpliant access when an wner r a member f the wner s family, wh resides in the hme, has a permanent physical handicap and a physician s written certificatin.

2 If eligible as described abve, nly ne ADA-cmpliant access is allwable fr funding unless specified therwise in applicable State r lcal cdes (fr mre infrmatin n ADA, see If ramps are nt technically feasible, a mechanical chair lift r elevatr may be installed; Yu must attach a typed dctr's letter n ffice letterhead indicating the elevatr r mechanical chair lift is necessary t access the hme in rder t justify the expense under the Shre Up CT Prgram. A qute fr the elevatr/chair must be apprved by Shre Up CT prir t initiatin f wrk. If the persn with the need fr an elevatr/chair is nt a hmewner, further dcumentatin will be required t shw that the persn ccupies the hme as a primary residence. Acceptable prf f primary residence includes gvernment-issued identificatin that shws yur hme address such as a driver s license r a nn-driver pht identificatin, OR vehicle registratin, OR a utility bill that shws 12 mnths f use at yur hme. Optins include phne, cable, electricity and water bills. Abatement f asbests and lead-based paint related t the elevatin f the hme. Fr hmewners wh have received federal funding fr elevatin, additinal abatement f asbests and lead-based paint csts may be cvered if required under the federal prgram; Basement fill-ins are eligible expenses nly if required t make a prperty structurally sund fr physical elevatin; Wind-prfing: permanent strm shutters and strengthening vents and sffits; (dne in cnjunctin with elevatin r retrfitting fr fld prtectin activities) Demlitin f attached garage; refinishing newly expsed hme siding; Raising wall/rf height f attached garage if feasible; and Elevating pre-existing prches r decks if feasible; and Cnstructin f standard size landings at each access dr (as defined by the Cnnecticut building cde). Fr structures that cannt be elevated, prperty wners can apply fr financing fr retrfitting fr fld prtectin and wind-prfing withut elevatin. Wind-prfing activities will nly be financed if retrfitting fr fld prtectin activities are included in the prject scpe. A structural engineer must certify that the prperty cannt feasibly be elevated t be eligible fr these elevatin alternatives.

4 Cst Estimate T cmplete the Prject Infrmatin Frm, the applicant must submit an itemized budget detailing, t the extent pssible, the cst f activities as well as the estimated lump sum cst fr the prject. Applicant must submit a site plan detailing dimensins f the additin. Stairs and railings leading t each entryway t the structure are eligible.
