1 1. How do I enrol in the Challenge? Frequently Asked Questions Administrator: If you are the administrator of the Challenge for your company, visit and follow the enrolment instructions. You will receive a confirmation along with a unique code and a sample (found on your administrator dashboard) to send to all employees announcing your company s commitment to mental health initiatives. It will provide your employees with information about the Challenge, e.g., why they will earn points, how they earn points and details about the great rewards that they can win for participating. Employee: If you are an employee of an organization that has registered for the Challenge, simply click the link that was sent to you by your company s administrator selected to be the touch point for the Challenge. Register by following the instructions to gain access to your secure site and enter the special invitation code that was sent to you ( 2. Can I still participate if my company is already active in mental health initiatives/policies? Absolutely the aim of this Challenge is to keep mental health initiatives and policies top of mind in all Canadian organizations. If your business has achieved some of the items in the Challenge, simply click the checkbox to show that these tasks are completed on your admin dashboard and the associated points will be awarded to all of your registered employees. Review the items not achieved yet and use the easy tips, or review the complete guidebook from Mental Health at Work. This will help facilitate the implementation of more mental health standards in your organization. And, of course earn more points for your employees! Page 1 of 8

2 3. Who are the sponsors of this initiative? The sponsors for the initiative are Economic Club of Canada, in partnership with BestLifeRewarded, Mental Health Commission of Canada, Mental Health International, Excellence Canada and Lundbeck Canada. 4. What is the purpose of the Challenge? In Canada, 500,000 people each day do not go to work because of mental health problems or mental illness. There is a stigma associated with mental illness in the workplace. From both a human and financial perspective, we need to take action and implement mental health standards in the workplace. The purpose of the Challenge is to encourage corporate Canada to implement mental health at work standards. The Challenge is a fun and engaging way to help companies get started. Page 2 of 8

3 5. What are the milestones my company will need to achieve in the Challenge? The Mental Health at Work Challenge was developed to provide your organization with introductory steps to implement mental health standards in the workplace. The milestones for the Challenge established by Excellence Canada include the following tasks: Organizations may complete the tasks in any order. As an organization s Challenge administrator reports that a task is complete, each of the organization s employees will receive the associated rewards points for that task automatically. Page 3 of 8

4 6. What happens after the Challenge is completed? The Challenge will be available September 19, 2014 until September 1, Companies may join at any time throughout the course of the Challenge. Companies registering will have more time to complete Challenge milestones and additional prize draws for their employees. Your employees are earning points every time you confirm that you have completed an activity/milestone. Your employees can also earn points for participating in education and health tracking tools through their personal Challenge dashboard page available to them following registration. Your employees can bid on prizes that they can win with the reward points they have earned through corporate milestones achieved plus their individual activities. The Challenge is a kick off activity intended to provide companies with the opportunity to take first steps in taking action to implement mental health standards. There are many action items that companies can do to continuously improve their level of mental health standards in the workplace. The Wellth Management Partners also provide training, coaching, and assessment tools to implement, validate and certify businesses working to improve the level of mental health standards in the workplace. In addition, businesses may apply for the prestigious Canadian Awards for Excellence Mental Health at Work. 7. Is there formal recognition for completing the Challenge? During the Challenge, all participating businesses will be posted on a Trailblazers leaderboard showing the organizations that are committed to Mental Health at Work. The more tasks/milestones your company completes, the more points earned. Each registered employee earns points based on the achievement of corporate milestones (as reported by your Challenge administrator leading this initiative at your company). In addition, registered employees can earn extra points Page 4 of 8

5 by reading education materials on mental health in the workplace and answering quiz questions, as well as using daily steps, mood, stress, and sleep trackers. The more engaged they are, the more personal points they will earn. All companies will be profiled publically for participating in the Challenge. Remember any effort to make improvements in the workplace related to mental health issues is considered a huge WIN! Top companies may be profiled or asked to participate in media activities when the overall Challenge is completed. As well, top performers may be asked to mentor beginning organizations or become panel members for special events in the future. Excellence Canada is the custodian of the prestigious Canada Awards for Excellence for Mental Health at Work a formal national award that companies can apply for. For more information visit 8. How many points can my company earn? In total+, each company can earn up to 1,100 points for each employee registered in the Challenge. Each time a company achieves a milestone, points will be assigned to their employees who have registered for the Challenge. In addition, each employee can earn bonus points for completing education modules and using the health trackers daily. There is a total prize pool valued at more than $50,000! 9. What does my company do with the points? As milestones/tasks are completed within the Challenge, each registered employee earns the points associated with the milestone. The employee can bid their points on exciting prizes that will be drawn against prize draw deadlines as noted in the Challenge Rewards Store online. 10. What if my company doesn t complete the Challenge? Any task/milestone that is achieved by your company is considered a HUGE WIN! The more milestones achieved, the more points you can earn for employees. The more active you are in the Challenge as an organization, the more reward points (chances to win) are earned by your employees. Page 5 of 8

6 11. How much does the Excellence Canada Mental Health at Work program cost? Excellence Canada has generously donated the formal program and the Challenge components free of charge for all companies participating in this Challenge. The Mental Health at Work program and implementation guide, developed by Excellence Canada, will be complimentary for participating organizations. Otherwise the program and guide purchased from Excellence Canada at a cost of $495. There is a cost to formally apply for national recognition through Canada Awards for Excellence for Mental Health at Work (optional activity). For more information on formal recognition of your company and securing the Canada Awards for Excellence designation, visit What am I suppose to do with the Wellth Management Mental Health at Work Challenge JPEG logo? We encourage all companies to post the Wellth Management Mental Health at Work Challenge logo on their corporate website and in auto-signatures. It identifies to those that visit your site that you are participating in the Challenge and it links to the Challenge website so that others can learn more and get involved too! 13. How much time is expected of my company to commit to this Challenge/initiative? Any effort that your company makes to implement mental health standards in your workplace is a HUGE WIN! There are milestone activities that are fairly simple to implement and others that will require some planning and resources. Of course, our hope is that 100% of Canadian companies implement 100% of the Mental Health at Work program. We recognize that this will not happen overnight and that it requires a long term commitment. Page 6 of 8

7 14. How many other events are taking place? The launch event in Toronto was September 19, The Wellth Management Partners will travel across Canada, with the Economic Club of Canada hosting events in Halifax, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver. Dates will be posted on the Economic Club of Canada website ( as the panellists are confirmed in each city. 15. What are the prizes for the Challenge? The total prize pool value for the Challenge is approximately $50,000 (CDN)! Sample prizes include $4,000 Air Canada Vacation travel vouchers, $500 WaySpa gift certificates, an in-home chef cooking class for two, an interior design consultation, restaurant gift certificates, and much more. Within the Challenge, your company will be shown on the Trailblazers leaderboard along with all participating companies in the Challenge. Your company name will be shown in alphabetical order. Other companies will not see your specific activities, only the reward points earned. We look forward to profiling, promoting, and recognizing participating companies. Your company will also have the option to be formally recognized by Excellence Canada through the prestigious Canada Awards for Excellence for Mental Health at Work. There are specific requirements that companies must meet in order to achieve this national award for excellence. For more information, visit How will my company be profiled in public (media, etc)? Participating companies may be listed in media and publicity materials to highlight the commitment to the Challenge and fostering mental wellness in the workplace. Leaders of the Challenge will be announced through the Economic Club of Canada and/or other Challenge partners, namely Excellence Canada, Mental Health Page 7 of 8

8 International, Lundbeck Canada, Cookson James Loyalty or the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Participating companies may be invited to provide quotes for media purposes, but individual companies participating in the Challenge will not be singled out for media and publicity materials without express written permission.
