2 Overview Step It Up! is a wellness competition designed to get people moving. The program focuses on increasing physical activity by tracking steps over a period of time to reach a common enterprise-wide goal. Step It Up! can be presented as an individual offering or employers can turn up the competition level by offering a team component. Optimize engagement, motivation and program ease with the option to integrate a Fitbit device a wireless activity tracker proven to heighten the fun and friendly competition elements of team challenges to promote healthy behavior change. Program benefits Easy. Fun. Social. Rewarding. Coworkers, family, and friends all influence our awareness of healthy behaviors, fuel our readiness and support our efforts to change. Harnessing the power of social connections, technology, and immediate feedback, Step It Up! was designed to motivate individuals to get moving or to increase their movement and to realize the benefits of physical activity. Step It Up! is further enhanced with features such as goal setting, ongoing communications, competitions, and rewards to create an engaging experience for an individual or teams. To maximize engagement in population health improvement programs, goals must be realistic and clear, requirements to participate must be simple, and there must be personal meaning to incent individuals to participate. Step It Up! is designed to do all that plus adds the element of fun to ensure ongoing, active program engagement StayWell Health Management, LLC 2

4 Participant experience invitation Participant receives program introduction and registration invitation s. enrollment Participant enrolls in program via StayWell portal and orders pedometer or Fitbit. if pedometer: Participant enters daily step count into online campaign. sync if fitbit: Participant creates account on Fitbit.com, and authorizes data to sync with StayWell portal real-time data displays in the participant s online campaign. 5 The dashboard what participants say Great tool, easy to use, didn t require being on a team, easy to see how I was doing and it showed me areas that need improvement that I was not aware of previously. The Step It Up! online dashboard gives participants a clear, fun and engaging way to track progress, motivate and challenge coworkers, and to access educational health-related articles. Create or join a team online and view public leaderboards displaying real-time individual, team and corporate challenge results. Participants can send encouraging or taunting messages to other individuals, team members or teams to keep the motivation, engagement and competition high. I liked the fact that I didn t have to write down the number of steps I took and reset the pedometer every day. 6 Customize your corporate challenge 1 Focus on a single goal: determine challenge duration or step goal Setting a realistic goal within an established reasonable time frame helps activate a greater majority of your population, establishes a sense of camaraderie toward reaching a clear enterprise-wide goal, and simplifies communication. Options include the following: 6 weeks ~ 300,000 steps 2 determine a unified start date Step It Up! can be implemented at any time during the program year. Use it to reenergize program awareness, keep your population active during the holidays, or hold a yearlong challenge for ongoing communication opportunities. Your StayWell Account Executive can work with you to determine a strategy that best serves your company s culture and goals. 12 weeks ~ 700,000 steps 1 year ~ 1,000,000 steps 3 establish completion reward 4 determine communication strategy Online campaigns are optimized when the incentive completion criteria is based on meeting a goal. Consider a skin-in-the-game shared cost approach for the pedometer or Fitbit device to create additional motivation to reach the campaign goal. A Step It Up! coordinator guide will be provided which includes a program overview, onsite implementation timeline, promotional and implementation ideas, awareness language, and supporting templates and samples. Kick off communications may include a company generated awareness blast and StayWell generated call to action s to register. 7 Reporting StayWell provides your organization with timely reports including: Registrations The number of individuals enrolled to participate. Completion rates The number of registered participants who meet completion criteria.
