2 Welcome to The London HR Connection The London HR Connection (LHRC) is a unique forum for HR professionals that has been established for many years. We host monthly lunchtime or evening events with high profile guest speakers from the world of business, academia, Government, trade unions and the private and public sectors addressing the hottest topics in HR in this challenging market. We also pride ourselves on the excellent networking environment and opportunities that we have created for our members in the relaxed and friendly environment around the main event. The LHRC also partners with the Department of Management at the London School of Economics. This gives us access to some of the world s most influential thought leaders in HR management and we host regular panel-led debates in conjunction with the LSE. Membership is provided on an individual or corporate basis. One of the unique features of the LHRC is that people can join at any stage of their career with LHRC membership assisting with personal development and future career progression. Although the LHRC is a CIPD Special Interest Group, you don t need to be a member of the CIPD to join the organisation.

3 Events We run our events at lunch and at the end of the working day, usually on the first Wednesday of each month. Events are participative and informative allowing members to take newly acquired knowledge back to their workplace. At our events, we meet to update our members on issues of current interest in the world of people management and development with lively and interactive sessions with renowned speakers and subject experts. Our members also get a chance to meet and talk to other HR professionals in a relaxed and friendly environment. The 2014/15 season will include some high profile and eminent speakers from within the profession and public life and we also will be holding debates at the London School of Economics. We also list our past events to give you a flavour of the topics we have covered in the past. For many of our past events you can download the presentation or other relevant information. We welcome suggestions for future events or perhaps you know a potential speaker for a future event. If so please contact us.

4 Membership Our membership includes HR professionals from the private, public and not for profit sectors, consultants, independent practitioners and suppliers to the profession. Why Join? 5 Join Now Please be aware that we have a strict quota regarding HR professionals v service supplier members, and suppliers may have to go on a wait list or have their membership request refused in order to keep to that quota. If after attending the event you would like to join as a member please contact the membership coordinator (details below). Individual annual membership: VAT per person for one calendar year - (10 events in total). Includes attendance at all events, refreshments and all materials. Individual membership is not transferable. Individual membership: 85 + VAT per person for any six events in one calendar year Includes attendance at your 6 selected events, refreshments and all materials. (not transferable amongst individuals) Corporate membership: VAT for annual corporate membership - a flexible option allowing any two attendees from one organisation to attend all events during one year. (10 events) Super Corporate membership: VAT for annual corporate membership - a flexible option allowing any four attendees from one organisation to attend all events during one year. 6 About History The name The London Human Resources Connection was adopted in October 2003 but the history of LHRC has much earlier origins Records of the Welfare Workers Institute mention the London Branch. The Welfare Workers Institute became Institute of Industrial Welfare workers Became the Institute of Personnel Management. The first recorded meeting of the Central London Group was on 7 October 1946 at Metal Box London IPM was split into three with the Central London Group having the specific aim of arranging lunchtime meetings for those who work in the middle of London. About the London HR Connection London HR Connection is an unique forum for Human Resources professionals. We provide regular lunch time events that offer great speakers on the hottest topics in the world of Human Resources. We also pride ourselves on the excellent networking environment that we have created. At our events, we meet to update our members on issues of current interest in the world of people management and development with lively and interactive sessions with renowned speakers. Our members also get a chance to meet and talk to other HR professionals in a relaxed and friendly environment at the networking lunches that precede the main event Formation of the Institute of Personnel and Development from the merger of the IPM and the Institute of Training and Development. The lunchtime special interest group became the CIPD Capital Network. October 2003 Following a major consultation exercise with our members we re-branded and became The London HR Connection.
