Players must bring their own tennis racquet to class. This program teaches children the basics of golf, integrated with life skills, in a fun, activity-based learning environment. 5 TEEN & ADULT ACTIVITIES CONTACT KEVIN CRAIL Senior Director of Warminster YMCA or WILLIAM TENNENT HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS TEEN TENNIS DRILLING PROGRAM Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-8:00 PM Each session provides intense training to develop the competitive High School player by featuring instruction, drilling, and match play each day. Qualified players are put in groups with instructors who have experience and knowledge and who care about individual development. Athletic conditioning and training will also take place. Bring two cans of new tennis balls. This program is not for beginners. Instructor: Jerry Nagahashi Beginners in 8th or 9th grade may enroll, providing they are trying out for William Tennent HS tennis team and they receive permission from the instructor. Children learn and practice new swim skills that last a lifetime. Swimmers become more comfortable and secure around water as we emphasize water safety. Typically wear 3 bubbles at start of the session. Ratio 1:4 PIKE II BEGINNER LEVEL II 3 to 5 yrs Must be voluntarily submerging their head underwater and swimming without instructor assistance at least 5 feet with 2 bubbles. Ratio 1:5 EEL I INTERMEDIATE LEVEL I 3 to 5 yrs Must be able to swim without instructor assistance at least 10 feet on their front and back with 1 bubble while blowing bubbles. Ratio 1:5 YOUTH POLLIWOG BEGINNER LEVEL I 6 to 12 yrs Focus on water acclimation, selfconfidence, and beginning swimming skills on their front, back and side. Encouraged and taught how to voluntarily submerge while standing and swimming. Ratio 1:5 GUPPY BEGINNER LEVEL II 6 to 12 yrs Must be able to swim on front, back and side at least 25 yards with a flotation and 20 feet without. Ratio 1:6 MINNOW INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 6 to 12 years Must be able to swim 25 yards on front (with overarm recovery and rhythmic breathing), back and side. Ratio 1:7 SWIM EVALUATIONS Complimentary on the first day of class to help place your child in the correct class. 11 SPORTS CAMPS Our sports camps provide children with the opportunity to develop skills in a safe, friendly environment. Campers will learn skills and compete against their fellow campers each day. SINGLE WEEK REGISTRATION AVAILABLE TEEN CAMPS COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) 13 to 15 yrs Assist our highly qualified staff in leading daily activities with children of different ages and abilities. CITs learn camp operations and also develop individual leadership skills to help them in future endeavors. All CIT s are required to complete a week of training first, followed by 4 CIT weeks. LEADER IN TRAINING (LIT) 12 to 14 yrs Service to self and others is at the heart of the LIT program. The Y is focused on giving teens the tools to bring positive change to their community and create lasting relationships with their peers. Training Weeks Get Ready Weeks 1, 3, 5 All CITs and LITs must fill out the Teen Camp Application Form to complete their camp registration. This form can be found on SKATE & TENNIS Held at Munro Park SKATE CAMP 6 to 12 yrs New or experienced riders, learn how to ride, terminology, how to put together a board, and how to ride safely. Participants separated into smaller instructional groups based on age & experience. Includes both free skate and instruction. During select weeks campers will build their own board. TENNIS CAMP 6 to 12 yrs Learn the basics of tennis in a fun environment through drills and games. Players will learn ground strokes, volleys, serves and footwork in this camp. Participants will also learn to keep score during their game play. The week ends with a Friday tournament. Racquet required. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Available to those who may not be able to afford our camp. Please be sure to register for desired camps ($10 deposit per camp per week) and submit your fully-completed application (including your 2014 tax return) by the following due dates to allow time for processing: June 1 for June camps, June 15 for July camps and July 1 for August camps.
