1 Fall for family healthy fun Lower Bucks Family YMCA Fall I Registration 8/17 Session: 8/31-10/25 Fall II Registration 10/12 Session: 10/26-12/20 Fall I - August 31 st to October 25 th Fall II - October 26 th to December 20 th

2 Dear Friends, There have been some great changes at the Lower Bucks Family YMCA since the spring all made with a goal to enhance your Y experience by providing additional value to your membership. Since Troy Weaver joined the team as Chief Operating Officer, we ve made a tremendous impact upon the Y in a very short time including the addition of a new Y Functional Fitness Center. This new space is designed to help better support your wellness needs and is a great way to build inner strength, improve endurance and balance and gain a wider range of motion. In August, you can participate in a free class to learn more. There s other ways to meet your wellness needs including during Member Get a Member in the month of October. Research demonstrates that having a partner can help increase the chance that you will reach your fitness goals. Together you can encourage and motivate, monitor your progress and increase the likelihood of sticking to a fitness routine. If your friend joins, you will have the benefit of a free month of membership. Social Responsibility is at the heart of the Y s mission. It s true, that Together We Can Do More not only by motivating one another to stay on track with fitness, however in ensuring that our community is strong. Remember to support the Y so we can in turn provide access to our programs and services regardless of an ability to pay. Philanthropic contributions support many efforts including the 7th Grade Initiative. As youth begin to face the many challenges of adolescence, they are more likely to begin distancing themselves from formal organizations, friends and family and to experiment with unhealthy and illegal behaviors. The 7th Grade Membership Initiative is an opportunity for the Y to engage, cultivate and connect with youth at a time that is most crucial to their development. Contribute to this effort or recommend a 7th grader that you may know to become a member. Donations also support financial assistance for Early Childhood Education and School Age Care programs, the Giving Tree (providing holiday wishes and meals), Wellness Programs for Low Income Adults and membership discounts for Active Duty Military and their families. Your gift will make an impact. As we near the close of 2015, we hope that you are recognizing the positive change within our Y and know that we are dedicated to serving this community in the best way possible. The Y is here for you to help you achieve your lifestyle and healthy living goals. I think that everyone can agree that is a benefit worthy of your support. YMCA Teen Leaders Club Ages Brings teens together to develop group leadership skills, as well as allowing individuals to grow by building a healthy spirit, mind and body. Teens meet on a monthly basis, in addition to other activities and/or volunteer opportunities. One of the unique traits of Teen Leaders Club is that everything is run by the teens themselves. Even the meetings are run by the CAB (Club Advisory Board), consisting of a group of teens that are chosen by their peers to plan and organize meetings and monthly events. Opportunity for teens to learn about leadership, get involved with the community and have fun with peers. Essentially, the club is what the group makes of it. Full Member Free Program Member $40 YMCA 7th Grade Initiative Free YMCA Membership Lower Bucks Family YMCA is pleased to offer 7th grade students a free membership to support and encourage youth to live healthy lifestyles and make responsible choices. To join, bring a school ID or report card and a parent or guardian to the Lower Bucks Family YMCA Welcome Center. Research shows that 7th grade is a critical time in a young person s life when exposure to risk factors greatly increases. Risk factors are conditions or influences that have been shown to increase the likelihood for unhealthy behaviors including substance abuse, delinquency, teen pregnancy, school drop-out and violence. It is also during the early teen years that youth begin to distance themselves from family and positive support systems. We provide youth with the knowledge, skills, character and passion to be more active in the community as adults. Celebrating You!
