Effectively manage capital works projects and general projects by facilitating multi-disciplinary teams and provide advice on strategic commercial and project issues. 2. Page 2 of 5 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Capital Works Projects Effectively manage and oversee delivery of Council civil and building projects and ensure programmed targets are budget sensitive; Coordinate all aspects of the design process through concept schematic drawings to construction contract documentation; Lead internal groups and experts consultants in relation to civil and building projects. Facilitate the procurement (including tender) and contract awarding process for civil and building construction projects; Advise on adoption of schedules and programs prepared by consultants, builders, contractors and subcontractors; Provide professional advice to the Engineering Directorate in relation to civil engineering matters Certify progress payments in accordance with agreed/established target points within the project time line; Ensure civil and building construction projects are progressed in accordance with tender documents and specifications; Actively promote methods of design to improve maintenance and long term performance of Council assets; Perform Contract Administration duties for Council contracts including performing the role of Principal s Representative, Superintendent, Superintendent s Representative, Clerk of Works and/or Inspector as nominated by the City 2. Administration and Financial Management Prepare reports to Council where required; Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 1995, other statutory legislation or regulations and Council Policy; Ensure budget expenditure is controlled through appropriate financial management; Investigate issues relating to public safety and implementation of the project; 3. Participation in the overall development and improvement of team culture and performance Active participation in team meetings Making suggestions which contribute to the objectives of the Section Assisting in the development of a culture of continuous improvements Cooperating with other team members to achieve work outcomes Keeping abreast of current trends and initiatives within the industry Assist the Executive Manager Engineering in the delivery of the Infrastructure Management Annual Business Plan and Team Operational Plan 3. Health & Safety Ensure a safe workplace adhering to regulations and actively promoting the health and safety of the team Implement and monitor current Occupational Safety and Health principles and practices. Create and maintain a safe workplace culture by ensuring staff are adequately trained and have the appropriate tools and support available to conduct their work safely. 4.
