Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) is a nonprofit organization at the center of a vibrant and united community of 215,000 individuals who share the Peace Corps experience. The NPCA champions a lifelong commitment to Peace Corps ideals by connecting, engaging and promoting its members and member groups as they continue to make a difference in communities in the U.S. and around the world. NPCA is also dedicated to advocating for, contributing to, and supporting the betterment of the Peace Corps. Print Advertising: WorldView magazine is the quarterly publication of the National Peace Corps Association, the nation s leading nonprofit supporting Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and the Peace Corps community. Demographics NPCA MEMBERS are... Educators. Twenty-five percent of our members are teachers, professors or school superintendents who bring a global perspective into America s school. Managers. Many operate businesses, lead nonprofit organizations, sit on boards of major corporations and foundations, and serve at all levels of local, state and federal government. Technologists. More than 95% of our readers use the Internet. Many are computer software designers, engineers, medical professionals, researchers and media professionals. Public Leaders. Four Returned Volunteers Republican and Democrat are members of Congress. NPCA members have served in the President s cabinet and staff, and as ambassadors. Other serve as university presidents and deans. Internationalists. More than 7,000 Returned Peace Corps Volunteers now work in such federal agencies as Education, State, Commerce, and the Agency for International Development. Several thousand more work for the World Bank, United Nations or programs for private overseas relief and development programs. Average income: $55,000 a year Age: 51 years + 40% 35 or younger 33% 35-50 years 27% Serving Peace Corps Volunteers... Peace Corps reflects the diversity of America today s Volunteers range in age from 19 to 82 and represent all 50 states. Volunteers work with local governments, communities, schools and small businesses to address changing and complex needs in education, health, community economic development, environment, youth in development and agriculture. Serving Volunteers as of June 2014: 7,029 Gender: 63% female, 37% male Marital status: 93% single, 7% married Minorities: 24% Average age: 28.7 Volunteers aged over 50: 8% of Volunteers Our members travel: Sixty percent have traveled to more than five foreign countries, for business and for pleasure. Our members have influence and care: 78 percent participate in foreign affairs causes and political campaigns, or volunteer with food banks, homeless shelters, scouting and 4-H groups, and tutoring programs.
