Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Provider Course February 20-21, 2015 Le Bonheur Children s Hospital Community Room Memphis, Tennessee Course Description PFCCS is a major resource for those interested in learning how to recognize critical illnesses and initiate care for the critically ill pediatric patient. It will also serve as a valuable education tool for those entering the field of pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric critical care, and disaster response medicine. Target Audience This program is directed toward physicians, hospitalists, advanced practice nurses, transport teams, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and other healthcare professionals involved in pediatric critical care and emergency medicine. Purpose To prepare physicians, physician-assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, transports, and EMT/paramedics for the first 24 hours of pediatric critical care until transferred or appropriate critical care consultation is obtained. To prepare non-intensivists to manage the acute deterioration of critically ill pediatric patients. Objectives - Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: prioritize assessment needs for the critically ill or injured infant or child. select appropriate diagnostic tests. respond to significant changes in the unstable pediatric patient. recognize and initiate management of acute, life-threatening conditions. determine the need for expert consultation and/or patient transfer and the optimal methodology accomplishing patient transfer. Accreditation Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Credit Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare designates this live activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
