Overview The EP-8201 VIP Phne is fully cmpatible with the pen SIP industry standards. This feature-rich VIP Phne is designed as an enterprise grade VIP device t wrk seamlessly with mst f the existing SIP systems. Figure 1 EP-8201 VIP Phne

VIP Phne Features The EP-8201 VIP Phne has the fllwing features: Supprts SIP 2.0 Supprts TCP/UDP/IP, RTP, HTTP, HTTPS, ARP, DNS, DHCP, NTP/SNTP, FTP, TFTP, and SSL prtcls Interperable with varius 3rd party VIP end user devices, Prxy/Registrar/Server, and gateway prducts Supprts ppular vcders including G.711 a-law and u-law, GSM, G.723.1, G.729a/b/ab Supprts standard vice features such as Caller ID Display r Blck, Call Waiting, Call Hld, Call Transfer, Call Frward, in-band and ut-f-band DTMF (RFC2833/SIP INFO), and Dial Plans Supprts cnferencing, hands-free ludspeaker, phnebk, last number redial, call lg, vlume cntrl, and vicemail message indicatr Supprts BASIC and DIGEST authenticatin (MD5, MD5-sess) Prvides easy cnfiguratin thrugh autmatic cnfiguratin, Web brwser-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), r, if desired, manual peratin (phne keypad interface) Supprts NTP and redundant DNS servers NAT-friendly remte upgrade capability (via HTTP) even frm behind firewall/nat ruter. 1 Installatin and Basic Cnfiguratin Hardware Installatin 1. Cnnect the handset and telephne crd t the base f the VIP Phne. 2. Use the enclsed Ethernet cable t cnnect the LAN prt t a hub r switch, r t a DSL Ruter r Cable Mdem. 3. Cnnect the pwer supply using the enclsed AC pwer supply. 4. Fr the first time installatin, the phne will scan the netwrk fr available services which are DHCP, PPPE, and Fixed IP. Select the preferred service and enter the required infrmatin if needed. N user input is required fr DHCP service. User ID and Passwrd are required fr PPPE. IP address, Netmask, and Gateway IP Address are required fr Fixed IP mde. Accessing the Web Cnfiguratin Menu The steps fr accessing the VIP Phne Web Cnfiguratin Menu are: Obtain the VIP Phne IP address. Enter the IP address int a brwser. Lg in t the VIP Phne. Obtaining the VIP Phne IP Address T retrieve the IP address frm the VIP Phne: When the phne is in the n-hk state, press Menu. Press 3 (System Tls). Press 1 (Phne Status).

Press 1 (LAN Prt). The phne displays: LAN PORT 1. STATUS: WORKING. 2. IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx is any valid IP address between 0 and 255. Entering the VIP Phne IP Address int a Brwser Cnnect a laptp r desktp cmputer t the same subnet as the SIP Phne when accessing the Web Cnfiguratin Menu. The SIP Phne Web Cnfiguratin Menu can be accessed frm any Web brwser using the fllwing URL: http://<phne-ip-address> where <phne-ip-address> is the IP address f the phne. The default User Name is admin ; the default Passwrd is admin. Enter the User Name and Passwrd int the Lg In screen. Click OK t lg in t the VIP Phne.

Cnfiguring the VIP Phne Lgging int the VIP Phne Selecting Cnfiguratins and then Call Settings t display the page belw. Figure 2 Call Settings Screen SIP (Single Server Mde) Tw registratin mdes are supprted: Single Server Mde This mde allws SIP registratins t nly ne SIP Server / Prxy; hwever, it can supprt up t 4 registratins with different SIP numbers and names (Cntact). A backup server ptin is available and it will be used nce registratin t the primary server fails. Line 1 t Line 4 keys are predefined fr the Cntact1, Cntact2, Cntact3, and Cntact4 in sequence. This allws the user t specify which identity (Cntact: SIP number and name) will be used fr the call. The default is t use the cntact infrmatin fr Line1 (Cntact1). Multiple Server Mde This mde allws up t 4 SIP registratins t different SIP servers / prxies as shwn belw. The Prfile 1 is always used as the default SIP server when a call is made withut specifying the designated SIP server. Line 1 t Line 4 keys are predefined fr line selectin. If a Prfile is nt prgrammed, the crrespnding line selectin key is disabled.

Figure 3 Call Settings Screen SIP (Multiple Server Mde) In general, the fllwing basic parameters are required fr a simple SIP registratin. SIP Phne number Display name (Optinal: This name will be used fr Call ID Name Delivery, s that the ther part can see yur name befre answering.) SIP Prxy (IP Address r Fully Qualified Dmain Name) SIP Registrar (IP Address r Fully Qualified Dmain Name) Authenticatin ID and passwrd (if enabled) Outbund Prxy Hme Dmain Register Expiry Selecting the Audi Cdec Preference t set the list f cdecs t be used fr this prfile. The default list has all cdecs enabled and is arranged in the descending rder f the data bandwidth required.

Selecting the Advanced tab fr mre VIP settings. Depending n the requirements f yur service prvider r netwrk envirnment, sme additinal infrmatin listed belw may be required. Signaling Prt Message Waiting DTMF Signaling NAT Traversal Signaling QS Please cnsult yur service prvider r netwrk administratr fr mre infrmatin r instructins if necessary. Selecting the Media Settings fr packet length, jitter, Cdec, and side tne settings. Selecting Save Changes t stre the current settings.

2 Mre Cnfiguratins Changing the Passwrds The EP-8201 supprts tw levels f cnfiguratins (user and administratr) via either the Phne Menu r the Webpage. The user level is restricted frm changing the call settings. This administratr level allws full access t the phne cnfiguratins. Each level has its wn passwrd and is required befre entering the cnfiguratin interface. The user name fr the user level is user and fr the administratr level is admin. The User Passwrd can be changed via the webpage in bth user and administratr mdes. Hwever, the Administratr Passwrd can nly be changed in the administratr mde. The default passwrd fr user is 1234 and fr admin is admin. T change the Passwrd(s): 1. Enter the VIP phne webpage 2. Select Tls and then Change Passwrd 3. Enter the New Passwrd and Cnfirm Passwrd under the User Level and/r Administratin Level. 4. Click Change.

Setting the LCD Default display Yu can set up the phne LCD t display tw lines f text when the phne is idle. T set the Vendr Name (title) and Title n LCD (Subtitle) in the phne: 1. Enter the VIP phne webpage 2. Select Cnfiguratins and then Phne Settings 3. Fill in the Vendr Name (Title) field fr the first text line. 4. Fill in the Title n LCD (Subtitle) field fr the secnd line n LCD. Selecting Netwrk Tnes The Netwrk Tne is the dial tne ne hears when they pick up the handset t make a call, and the ring back tne when they dial t a number. Yu can select Netwrk Tnes and Ring Tne fr the VIP Phne, depending n the cuntry where the phne is lcated. T select Netwrk Tnes: 1. Select the Preference tab under the Cnfiguratin menu t access the Preference page. 2. Select a cuntry n the list beside the label Netwrk Tnes. If yur cuntry is nt n the list, yu can chse Custmized and then enter the netwrk tne definitins as desired. Selecting Ring Tne Distinctive ringing is supprted in bth Single Server Mde and Multiple Server Mde. Each Cntact r Prfile cntains a Ring Type field which can be assigned t ne f the fur predefined ring tnes. T select Ring Tne: 1. Select the Calling Settings under the Cnfiguratin menu 2. Chse a Cntact fr Single Server Mde r a Prfile fr Multiple Server Mde 3. Select a ring type (Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4) listed beside the Ring Type label. Netwrk Cnfiguratin The Netwrk Cnfiguratins screen allws yu t set up the IP addresses f the LAN and PC prt, Bridge r Ruter mde (by selecting r deselecting Bridge Mde), default Gateway Address, and Primary and Secndary DNS server IP addresses. Nte: the Primary DNS field will default t the IP address f yur DHCP server.

LAN Prt Cnfiguratin The VIP Phne LAN prt can be cnfigured t btain its IP address by DHCP r the IP address can be set statically (used mainly when using the phne with a DSL line). If yu btain a static IP address frm yur ISP, yu can assign it t the VIP Phne LAN prt by chsing Static IP selectin and then entering the fields as prvided. 1. Enter IP address f the phne beside IP Address. 2. Enter subnet mask beside Subnet Mask t specify the LAN Netmask. 3. Enter IP address f the default ruter beside Default Rute. 4. Enter Primary and Secndary DNS addresses. PC Prt Cnfiguratin Bridge Mde is the recmmended setting fr the VIP Phne. This cnfiguratin is imprtant fr an envirnment with an existing LAN and nly ne Ethernet utlet. It allws a cmputer cnnected t the PC prt t access the existing LAN. There is n need t recnfigure the PC r the existing LAN. In additin, the PC prt als ffers a Static IP mde which enables a new netwrk segment t be setup. A DHCP server can als be enabled t facilitate IP address assignment and management. Setting the Time Server and Time Zne The Time Server is the Netwrk Time Prtcl server where the VIP Phne retrieves date and time infrmatin. The time is in GMT ± ffset. Fr example, Pacific Standard Time is GMT -8, and Pacific Daylight Time is GMT -7. T set the Time Server and the time zne: 1. At the Time Server field, enter the IP address r the dmain name (FQDN) f a valid Time Server entry. It is set t timekeeper.isi.edu as factry default. 2. At the Time Zne field, enter GMT+x where x is the time difference between yur time zne and GMT. Perfrming an Online Upgrade WARNING! Perfrming an nline upgrade is fr experienced users r administratrs nly! T prepare the VIP Phne fr an nline upgrade: 1. Click Tls and then Online Upgrade. 2. Enter the IP address r dmain name f the upgrade server and package name (ex. http://wwwhybertne.cm/update/cn2x4-3_08_14_15.pkg). 3. Click Start. 4. The message belw appears when the firmware upgrade is cmpleted. Click OK t cntinue. Upgrade successful!

Current versin: xxxxxxxxx WARNING! D nt discnnect the pwer supply until the Rebting, Please Wait message appears. Reset Cnfiguratin Settings If yu wuld like t reset the IP phne t factry cnfiguratin, click n the Tls and then Reset Cnfig. Press Yes in the dialg bx t cnfirm the reset. Please remember t use the default passwrds t access the phne again. System Rebt If yu wuld like t rebt the VIP phne, click n the Tls and then Rebt. Press Yes in the dialg bx t cnfirm the rebt. The phne will then rebt autmatically.

3 VIP Phne Operatin Making a Call 1. Pick up handset. 2. Dial a phne number. 3. Press OK r wait fr Aut Dial timeut (# key as well if enabled). Depending n the cnfiguratin mde, the default Cntact1 r Prfile1 will be used t make the call. (See ntes belw) Making a Hands-Free Call 1. Press Speaker. 2. Dial phne number. 3. Press OK r wait fr Aut Dial timeut (# key as well if enabled). Depending n the cnfiguratin mde, the default Cntact1 r Prfile1 will be used t make the call. (See ntes belw) Ntes: a. Instead f pressing OK, press ne f the line keys (L1, L2, L3, r L4) t select the Cntact r Prfile t be used fr the call. b. An alternative way t make a call is t press a line key (L1, L2, L3, r L4) t select the apprpriate line first befre dialing a phne number.

Answering an Incming Call There are tw ways t answer an incming call: 1. Pick up the handset t answer the call nrmally. 2. Press the Speaker buttn t answer in speakerphne mde. Dialing frm the Phnebk 1. Press Menu 2. Chse PHONE BOOK 3. Chse the Prfile desired (fr Multiple Server Mde nly) 3. Chse VIEW 4. Press UP r Dwn t view the Phne Bk 5. Press OK t select the highlighted entry 6. Select DIAL t dial ut the number Viewing / Dialing frm Call Histry 1A. Press UP t view the Missed Call List while n hk / idle 1B. Press DOWN t view the Answered Call List while n hk / idle 1C. Press OK t view the Dialed Call List while n hk / idle 2. Chse the Prfile desired (fr Multiple Server Mde nly) 3. Press UP r Dwn t view the selected Call List 4. Press OK t dial ut the highlighted entry Redialing the last number 1. Pick up handset 2. Press L1, L2, L3, r L4 t select a line 3. Press REDIAL t dial ut the last number dialed immediately Or 1. Press REDIAL 2. Press UP r Dwn t select/high light the last number dialed frm L1 t L4.

3. Press OK t dial the number selected. The phne ges int Speakerphne mde autmatically and there is n need t select the line. 4. Pick up the handset t talk directly (Speakerphne mde turns ff autmatically). Using ther Phne Features Putting a Call n Hld T put a call n hld: 1. Press Hld buttn T release a call n hld: 1. Press Hld buttn Transferring a Call T transfer a call t anther extensin: 1. Press Transfer buttn 2. Dial phne number 3. Press OK 4A. Hang up fr unattended transfer. 4B. Wait fr the call t be answered and then hang up fr attended transfer. Answering a Call Waiting Call When yu are talking n the phne and anther call cmes in n yur phne extensin, a shrt tne sunds in yur handset and the LCD displays an incming call message. T answer a Call Waiting Call: 1. Press the crrespnding line key with an illuminated LED t put the current call n hld and answer the Call Waiting Call. 2. Press the line key again t switch between the tw calls.

Adjusting the Ring Vlume 1. Press Menu. 2. Select SYSTEM TOOLS. 3. Select RING VOLUME. 4. Press Up r Dwn t increase r decrease the ring vlume as shwn n the LCD. Adjusting the Handset Receiver Vlume 1. Pick up the handset 2. Press Up r Dwn t increase r decrease the handset receiver vlume as shwn n the LCD. Adjusting the Speaker Vlume 1. Press the Speaker buttn. 2. Press Up r Dwn t increase r decrease the speaker vlume as shwn n the LCD. Adjusting the LCD Cntrast 1. While the phne is idle, press Up r Dwn t increase r decrease the LCD Cntrast level as shwn n the LCD. Resetting Phne Cnfiguratin T0 reset the SIP Phne t factry cnfiguratin: 1. Press Menu 2. Select SYSTEM TOOLS 3. Select RESET CONFIG 4. Press OK 5. Enter the Username (default is admin) and Passwrd (default is dbl#admin) This will reset the entire phne cnfiguratin back t factry default settings.

Keypad Encding Scheme When entering phne bk entries, yu must use the Phne keypad t key in alphanumeric characters and special characters. The Phne uses the key encding system similar t the ne fund in cellular phnes. When entering alphanumeric characters and special characters, yu press a key multiple times t select the desired alphanumeric characters and special characters. If the same key is nt pressed after 1.5 secnds, the displayed alphanumeric character r special character will be selected as yur entry. Table 2 shws the encding scheme fr the available alphabets, numbers, and symbls.
