POST SCRPTON Job Title: Learning Facilitator Responsible to: Learning Resource Team Leader 1. Job Purpose: Planning and supporting learning and resource development. To provide excellent customer service in the delivery of directed support for learning to all nstitute learners, both face to face and online. Facilitate both planned and spontaneous learning opportunities. To direct and support learners to use the most appropriate resources available that meet their needs To supervise and support scheduled on-line learning and assessment (SOLA). 2. Key Responsibilities 2.1 To provide excellent customer service to all users of the Learning Resources Centres and Library and their services (physical and remote). 2.2 To actively support all learners in study through either planned or spontaneous learning opportunities. 2.3 To develop strong links with curriculum staff to plan and deliver support for learners and their learning. 2.4 To facilitate learning as part of the study programme through close collaboration with Curriculum teams. 2.5 To develop knowledge and practical application of teaching, learning and assessment. 2.6 To develop subject specialisms to provide more tailored support to learners in designated vocational areas. 3. Specific uties 3.1 To have an oversight of the LRC and supervision of learners. 3.2 To provide online support for remote/work-based learners. 3.3 To develop subject specialisms and pedagogies through their own continuous professional development to support vocational learners.
3.4 To develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the full range of nstitute learning resources, directing/supporting learners in accessing and utilising them. 3.5 To support and assist the completion of the nitial Assessment process for new learners to nstitute. 3.6 To support the development of independent research and study skills of learners appropriate to their level. 3.7 To design and deliver training sessions for covering the accessing and use of learning resources and study skills. 3.8 To create high quality training resources in a range of formats (e.g. video, podcast, screencast, etc.) that promote and support the adoption of appropriate learning technologies across nstitute. 3.9 To document and provide guidance materials supporting the use of both newly adopted and established learning resources. 3.10 To promote, develop and assist with the evaluation and impact of resources. 3.11 To assist with the management and administration of resources, hardware, software and systems. 3.12 To take on specialist role on behalf of the LRC team. 3.13 To work within the nstitute s core values and mission and vision. 3.14 Work with Curriculum teams to ensure resources are fit for purpose and develop innovative approaches to teaching of information research strategies and the core skills of independent learning which can be embedded in the curriculum. 4. Budget Responsibility The post has no specific budget responsibility other than the general requirement to ensure that any spending they are responsible for is undertaken in accordance with the Group s purchasing and financial regulations 5. Continuing Professional evelopment 5.1 The post holder will proactively take part in the Group Appraisal process and will appraise any staff they are responsible for 5.2 The post holder must undertake all training deemed mandatory by the Group (e.g. Safeguarding, quality and iversity and Health and Safety) and will be expected to attend all other relevant training and continuous professional development events. They are responsible for their own professional updating 6.
