1 Post: Safeguarding Co-ordinator Post no: 2114 Salary: 8,871-9,894 per annum Responsible to: Behaviour Support Manager and Lead for Safeguarding Working hours: 18.5 hrs per week Location: Beeston A vacancy has arisen for a 0.5 Safeguarding Co-ordinator position, to be based at Beeston. The role is critical in providing administrative and co-ordination support for the College s Safeguarding Designates and duties. This person will need to have excellent judgement, be able to work with very sensitive information and be proactive in their approach. This person will also need to be flexible as some of their work may, at times, be at different centres. 2 JOB DSCRIPTION Post: Safeguarding Co-ordinator Post no: 2114 Salary: 8,871-9,894 per annum Responsible to: Behaviour Support Manager and Lead for Safeguarding Responsible for: An efficient administration, tracking and co-ordination service for safeguarding across the college. Working hours: 18.5 hrs per week Location: Beeston Job purpose: To provide administration and facilitation to the safeguarding designates and the wider Behaviour and Support team. Duties include liaison with probation and youth offending services, production of statistics, maintenance of records and facilitating meetings General college responsibilities: To effectively contribute towards the delivery of a high quality educational experience for all students, delivering services in a way that is appropriate and responsive and which displays the highest standards of customer care. To observe all college policies / procedures / working practices / regulations and in particular to comply with the College s quality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Financial Regulations, Safeguarding Policy and the Code of Conduct. To undertake appropriate training and staff development. To effectively manage and develop any staff reporting through to the post holder. To identify and develop individual contribution in the delivery of the college competency framework. 2. Main duties and responsibilities: 1. To record and maintain information for all safeguarding referrals, possible issues, offenders and database notes 2. To update and maintain the child protection policies and information on the SharePoint site Page 2 of 6

To act as the named contact in the first line of assessment for potential students who disclose information relating to an unspent criminal conviction, pending course case, those on probation or those serving a non-custodial sentence or those with any orders. 4. To refer on those potential students who disclose criminal activity, as outlined in point 3, for higher level assessment, when required, to one of the Safeguarding Designates. 5. To keep a record of students/potential students who disclose criminal activity, as outline in point 3, with relevant risk assessments, in conjunction with the Behaviour and Support Manager 6. To be the main point of contact for external agencies and internal partners for 18+ leaving care students 7. To be the main point of contact for youth offending teams, probation officers and futures staff to receive risk assessments and deal with queries. 8. To receive and store all referrals for Child Protection/Vulnerable Adults, record actions and follow ups. 9. To record all applicants who are looked after /in care, ensure sufficient details are available to provide support should they enrol 10. To provide details of students who enrol who are looked after/in-care, have criminal convictions, have literacy and numeracy needs to the appropriate departments 11. Interrogate Access databases and xcel Spreadsheets to provide regular and adhoc reports for the Behaviour and Support teams 12. Maintain spreadsheets that are regularly updated to ensure Key Performance Indicator statistics are available 13. Collate and provide statistics on all aspects of Behaviour and Support activity, for any kind of management reports. 14. Regularly review legislation and Ofsted website to highlight any changes, additions or new legislation that may affect the behavioural and support teams 15. Arrange and minute meetings including the termly safeguarding meeting, including room bookings, car parking requests and minuting. 16. To provide support for all teams and the Additional Learning Support Manager to provide information for and proof read a variety of reports 17. To develop and maintain a filing and archive system for safeguarding referrals in accordance with the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act. 18. To work alongside the mental health team to develop and maintain a self-help area in each library. Page 3 of 6

To work, as required, with ALS to support college administrative processes as required e.g inputting data, maintaining and storing accurate student records in accordance with funding and audit requirement, including records of attendance, achievement and destination Note This Job Description provides an overview of the principle accountabilities of the post and accountabilities will include but will not be limited to those detailed. Job valuation The college operates a Job valuation Scheme, which is an equitable, fair and transparent way of determining the relative size of all Business Support jobs at the college; ensuring that jobs of equal value receive equal pay. The process evaluates the job rather than the person undertaking the job and assesses a range of factors to achieve an overall point s score.
