To assist the GIS Manager with the day to day running of the Corporate GIS and LLPG/LSG service and to provide technical support and advice to Officers in the Authority with regard to the operation of GIS and LLPG/LSG services. To assist the Information Manager with the delivery of the information management work programme within the Council. December 2011 KEY CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. KEY SERVICE RELATED ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist the GIS Manager in providing the Council with timely, cost effective GI related solutions using a variety of software applications, including GIS, Database Management Systems, and Development tools. Assist the GIS Manager in the design and development of GI systems, architectures and infrastructures (including web based applications) to support the Council in delivering its goals in accordance with Unit and Corporate strategies (e.g. IT). Assist in ensuring the Council s compliance with the PSMA, producing and sending necessary data transfers on behalf of the LLPG/LSG Custodian and supporting the work of the PPC. Undertake precise capture, correction and maintenance of spatial and tabular data to the relevant British standard(s), including data back-up using the recognised software available. Ensure that local and national conventions and standards (including BS7666) are fully adhered to. Assist in the setting up and implementation of in-house training procedures and manuals. Provide technical support to all users with regard to GIS hardware and software, and give guidance and support to Officers. Assist in providing a helpdesk facility for GI related enquiries and support calls, including the direct resolution of the call either on site, or over the telephone. Keep up to date with developments in GIS technology and monitor the internal and external demand for this technology. Provide advice and expertise to Corporate IT groups as and when required. Deal efficiently and effectively with enquiries from staff, members of the public and members of the council or agencies, relating to general property information, and specific GIS and LLPG/LSG issues. Assist in representing the Council on all matters regarding the GIS and the LLPG/LSG including attendance at relevant national/regional meetings. Assist in the promotion of GIS and LLPG/LSG information to users within the council and fee paying subscribers. Assist in creating & maintaining the LLPG/LSG using specialist systems (i.e. GIS), corporate responsibility for the allocation of UPRN numbers and where necessary notify changes, additions and deletions of the LLPG/LSG to other sections of the Council. Assist in managing the links between the LLPG/LSG and the Councils property systems. Assist in providing specialist support and advice to users and departments with in the council regarding the integration of systems with the LLPG/LSG.
Assist the Information Manager with the monitoring of information management compliance throughout the Council Assist the Information Manager with the delivery of the work required to improve upon corporate complaints management within the Council. Assist the Information Manager with the implementation of any Information Management and/or Information Security projects To assist the Information Manager with the raising of corporate awareness of Data Protection throughout the Authority. To assist in the implementation of any systems and procedures required to comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. To assist the Information Manager with the processing of subject access requests under the Data Protection Act, and requests for information under the FOI Act. To provide administrative support to the Information Management and GIS Team. Any other duties reasonably expected to be undertaken by a postholder at this level.
