Department of Civil Engineering Ellis Hall, 58 University Avenue Kingston, ON K7K 2N6 Tel: (613) 583-2753 Fax: (613) 533-2128 www.civil.queensu.ca Dear Potential Sponsor, Please accept this letter and accompanying sponsorship package on behalf of the Queen s Bridge Building Design Team (QBBT). We are an engineering design team from Queen s University that competes in the annual Troitsky Bridge Building Competition. The competition provides an opportunity for students to gain handson experience within a dynamic project setting. Students are able to develop their design, construction, and project management skills as well as become active members of the engineering community through networking with professional organizations and other universities. Although the QBBT is a relatively new entrant to this competition, we believe that with your help, we can participate at a competitive level. Participation in the competition requires teams to raise and manage funds to cover construction and travel expenses. As such, we rely heavily upon the contributions of organizations such as yours. Assistance to the team can be provided in the form of monetary, material, or logistical support. We greatly appreciate any support you may be willing to offer. We would like to thank you in advance for your time and interest. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the team at bridge@engsoc.queensu.ca. We look forward to building a lasting relationship with you. Sincerely, Brian Couture Executive Director Matthew Ficara Sponsorship Director Queen s University Bridge Building Team 2015

About Queen s Bridge Building Team The Queen s Bridge Building Team (QBBT) is a multi-disciplinary student-run engineering design team at Queen s University. We compete annually in the Troitsky Bridge Building Competition, hosted in Montreal, Quebec, by Concordia University each year Bridges are designed to be as strong and efficient as possible with innovative constraints: Materials are constricted to popsicle sticks, white glue, and dental floss. In March 2015, we sent 30 engineering students to competition and we plan to do the same this year. QBBT is a great opportunity for students to apply and improve upon their engineering and communication skills, developed during study at Queen s University, to a hands-on project. Teams are judged on many criteria including a presentation, structural efficiency, and ultimate load. This year, we are looking to improve our performance and place within the top 10 teams in the 2016 competition. 1
