Medical-Surgical Nursing Review Course Monday-Tuesday, November 10-11, 2014 Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota MAYO CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION

General Information Course description and goals This course will provide a review of the most current national treatment guidelines and recommendations for best practices in the care of medical and surgical adult patients. Individuality of care must be applied to each practice environment. Experts in medical and surgical patient care will instruct the course. This course may be used for more in-depth knowledge of nursing care and/or in preparation for a nursing certification exam. Participants completing this course should be able to: Describe essential components of care for medical and surgical patients. Identify predisposing risk factors affecting surgical patients and those with medical diseases. Review current pharmacologic and treatment strategies. Utilize research-based recommendations for care practices across the continuum. Date and location The course will be held Monday and Tuesday, November 10 and 11, 2014 in the Siebens Building, Mayo Clinic, 100 Second Avenue SW, Rochester, Minnesota. Intended audience This course is designed for nurses practicing in medical and surgical settings across the continuum of care. Register before October 20, 2014 Enrollment is limited; early registration is advised. The course registration fee of $285 includes the course syllabus and break refreshments. Registrations cannot be shared. Pre-registration is required and preferred by Monday, October 20, 2014. Registrations received after October 20th will be accepted on a space available basis.
