The post holder will provide general support to whole school community, which encompasses students, staff, parents and the wider community, by delivering efficient and effective administration and operational services. Please note that the postholder may, on occasion, be required to work outside normal school hours, 8.00am 5.00pm, eg. to support the delivery of the school s lettings programme, to assist with school events, to invigilate an exam. Job Responsibilities The job responsibilities will be carried out under the direction/ instruction of senior staff. The post will involve providing administration and resource support including all or some of the duties under the general heading listed below. Support the delivery of Administration and Technical Services within the School Assist with the maintenance of both manual and computerised record systems relating to both the curriculum and general administrative needs of the School Assist with the maintenance of the School s student records. Deal with both internal and external enquiries in a confident and professional manner Assist with the production of standard letters and reports Provide general clerical / administrative support eg photocopying, printing, display Assist the School s assessment programme eg. assist with routine tests, acting as an invigilator. Monitor and arrange stock, ensuring that items are appropriately and securely stored, assisting with stock checks and audits Operation of office equipment in accordance with instructions Assist with the maintenance and delivery of ICT/ AV services Assist with the maintenance of the computerised library loan system Assist with the preparation of materials and equipment
Support for Students and the Curriculum Supervise and provide particular support for students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students Promote good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour Encourage students to interact with other and engage in activities led by the teacher Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence Provide feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher Support for the Events and Lettings Programme Provide supervision and assistance to all authorised users of the School s facilities Ensure the maintenance of a clean, orderly and productive working environment Basic maintenance of the outdoor sports areas Ensure timely and accurate preparation and use of routine and equipment/ resources / materials as set out in instructions Assist with the maintenance of equipment ensuring safety checks are completed to an adequate standard Reporting faults, broken equipment and removing from service when necessary Provide advice and guidance as required. Assist those using the facilities to ensure health and safety and good behaviour Responsible for the general safety and security of sections of the School s facilities during lettings, ensuring these areas are suitably locked and alarmed. Support for the School Be aware and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person Be aware of and support difference and ensure that all users of the School s facilities are given equal access to the opportunities to learn and enjoy the available resources. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the School. Appreciate and support the role of other professionals. Attend relevant meetings as required Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required Be trained to administer emergency First Aid Be trained to be able to drive the school minibus Assist with the supervision of pupils eg library /resources area - break/lunchtimes, during extra-curricular activities eg after school sports clubs. Accompany teaching staff and students on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher Provide cover for sick/ absent staff and stand in for them when required Support the good public image of the School by ensuring all facility users are dealt with in a polite and professional manner. Qualifications and Experience
Essential General aptitude for dealing with a wide range of school resources including premises/ sports equipment Experience of dealing with the general public GCSE English and Mathematics Grade A* - C, or Key Stage 2 Application of Numbers and Communication Awards, or Functional Skills Mathematics and English Level 2.
