Cost includes transportation, lunch, and tasting fees. You will also be supporting a award for a female student in her 2 nd year of studies at TRU majoring in mining related studies. Learning goals may include: understanding different types of tenures in BC, how to pick a property, how to acquire a property, how to maintain your claim, understanding government regulation, placer and mineral techniques, mineral identification, documenting and reporting work, permits, budgeting and other resources.
Yukon Dan Gold Panning Field Trip (Must be registered as a Delegate to sign-up and attend) Date: April 14, 2016 Time: 8am-4pm Cost: $80.00 Description: Guaranteed to find flour gold, small and some big flakes, on this gold panning field trip with world champion gold panner, Yukon Dan. Leaving Kamloops at 8 am (coffee and muffins breakfast), your host on-board the bus will discuss placer gold and local geology while travelling to Spences Bridge where Yukon Dan awaits. You will receive a brand new gold pan (yours to keep) and lessons on how to find the most gold. We will have lunch (provided) on site. The bus will head back to the conference centre at 2:30 pm, with post trip beverages aboard, arriving back at approximately 4:00 pm. Please dress appropriately for the weather with proper waterproof footwear and clothing. During the conference, try to make time to meet with Yukon Dan tat his booth display and get a head start on learning the art of panning before the trip. New Afton Mine Tour (Thursday, April 16-8:00am - 4:00pm): (Must be registered as a Delegate to sign-up and attend) Date: April 14, 2016 Time: 8am-4pm Location: New Afton Mine Cost: $100.00 (must be 19yrs+) Come for a private tour of New Afton Mine where you will be one of only 18 people on this small tour to get a chance to tour their underground, mill and core shack. A bus will pick you up from The Coast Kamloops Hotel and Convention Centre and be promptly leaving at 8am, arriving back approximately around 4:00pm. Proper PPE must be worn on this trip. You will be asked to submit sizing and other information at the time of registration.
