NEEDS The relative infrequence of utilization, in addition to the high mortality and morbidity, makes proper education and training an absolute necessary component for personnel involved in the care of patients supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This annual conference provides a forum for this educational opportunity. Through specific lectures and discussion led by experts in the field of ECMO, the goal of the conference is for participants to enhance their fund of knowledge and practical management strategies to better care for their patients. TARGET AUDIENCe Neonatologists, pediatric and adult critical care physicians, pediatric and adult surgeons, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and ECMO specialists. educational OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to: Improve knowledge and management of patients with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Identify areas of potential improvement regarding new therapies and treatment strategies for ECMO patients. Identify barriers and successful strategies for implementation of novel therapies in the ECMO treatment program.
