Information to learners Thank you for your interest in. In order to allow you the best opportunity to succeed in the completion of this qualification, you will be required to undertake: research, reading and interpreting of national Training Packages (using the web) basic word processing to develop and prepare learning programs, delivery/sessions the development and review of assessment instruments, planning, conducting and validating assessments delivery of both one on one, group based and practical work-based learning make presentations in a number of contexts using a range of skills writing a range of documents receiving and providing feedback to peers to develop your skills observation of conducting assessments, presentations, and training using effective language, communication and interpersonal skills assessment tasks outside of workshop hours It is essential to generate the evidence required for each unit in a workplace, using real work activities. If you are not currently in a training and assessment work environment, you will need to negotiate with your Trainer/Assessor how you can meet the assessment requirements prior to enrolling. To complete the full qualification, workshops are scheduled over 13 days. A workshop schedule is outlined on pages 8, 10 and 12 indicating dates and fees for each unit cluster for each region. If you wish to complete Skill Sets only, the schedule for each region is given on pages 9, 11 and 13. Enrolment The trainer will evaluate your registered submission and if you have met the described suitability and selection requirements you will be emailed the following forms to complete the enrolment process: Enrolment form (including information on the Unique Student Identifier (USI)) Session sheet Sponsorship form and TasTAFE Consent and Disclosure form (if your workplace is sponsoring) Once we have received your enrolment form you will receive an invoice. Overview of the program This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. The qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. There are 10 units required to complete this qualification 7 core units and 3 electives. TasTAFE has designed a program incorporating the core units and a selection of electives that offers the flexibility for the candidate to achieve the full qualification, undertake a selection of individual units or the nominated Skill Sets defined by ASQA to meet the minimum requirements of Trainers and Assessors from January 2016. There is also the opportunity to achieve the qualification through an upgrade and/or recognition process. The full program content is facilitated over 13 one day workshop days delivered in each region Hobart, Launceston and Devonport. Experienced Trainers/Assessors will guide you through the program using collaborative learning and training activities. You will receive learning guides and templates to assist in the learning and completion of assessment tasks Page 4 of 17

You may wish to consider the following skill sets Skill Sets If you are training and assessing in a workplace context and/or are not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) you may wish to consider undertaking only one of the following skill set/s: TAESS00001 Assessor skill set includes 3 units. If you are going to be assessing against national competencies, you must have this skill set. Plan assessment activities and processes (core) Assess Competence (core) Participate in Assessment Validation (core) TAESS00003 Enterprise Trainer and Assessor skill set includes 4 units for Enterprise trainers and assessors working in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or in an enterprise that works together with an RTO in an auspiced arrangement. These people deliver and assess nationally endorsed units or qualifications. TAESS00007 Enterprise Trainer Presenting skill set includes 2 units suitable for those who train others in a workplace. BSBCMM401A Provide work skills instruction (elective) Make a presentation Assessment Evidence for assessment will be generated during the completion of this qualification or skill sets mainly through: Tasks and research projects to be completed out of workshop hours Questions - written responses. To meet the requirements of authenticity, some of the questions may be discussed verbally either over the phone or face to face Assessor and third party observations forms and checklists will be provided Portfolio of evidence of training, assessment and other documentation produced. Proformas and templates will be supplied Competency conversations Upgrade from TAA40104 to TAE40110 Core Units: To upgrade from TAA40104 to TAE40110 you will get equivalence for the following core units and will receive a credit transfer (CT) for those units by completing the TasTAFE Credit Transfer process. Assess competence Participate in assessment validation TAEDEL401A Plan, organize and deliver group-based learning TAEDEL402A Plan, organize and facilitate learning in the workplace All candidates will be required to provide recognition evidence against the following core units. This comprises a portfolio, participation in a competency conversation and third party reports. Elective Units: In consultation with your trainer, candidates are required to identify three elective units. We recommend that one of the electives be TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills. This unit will be a core unit in the new TAE qualification which will be endorsed in 2016. We offer this unit in one of our workshops. Achieving the qualification through Recognition (RPL) For you to achieve recognition, you need to have evidence that matches the criteria for TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and this may come from your current workplace training and assessing role and may include: Portfolio of work samples (such as session plans, resources, assessment plans, assessment instruments, learning programs etc to assess your performance evidence) Written responses to questions or competency conversation to assess your knowledge evidence Third party observation (to verify your performance and knowledge evidence) Page 7 of 17
