1 STUDENT INFORMATION GUIDE Future Skills is a registered training organisation with scope to deliver and assess against a range of qualifications, including the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. Our national training provider number is Course Objective Whether you want to work for yourself as a qualified trainer and assessor, or for a registered training organisation, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the national qualification to deliver industry or vocational training, and to conduct competency based assessments. Individuals who complete this program will become qualified industry trainers and assessors in their vocational field. On completion of this qualification you will be able to fulfil the role of a trainer and/or assessor working with a registered training organisation, sub-contracting work to a training organisation, or working with an enterprise or employer. Target Audience The key clients for this program are principally those people working in the power, construction and related industries in Queensland, although the program can be contextualised for a range of people who are seeking to become a workplace trainer and assessor across a variety of industry sectors and vocations. How long will the course take? That really depends on you. The course is a blend of face to face workshops, self paced learning and assessments. There are nine (9) days of face to face training which includes some of your assessments. There are also a range of Learning Guides which you can use to support your own learning. As an estimated guide, the nominal time to complete the entire course is 390 hours.

2 That s simply a guide to the time an average person will spend undertaking the learning and completing all assessments for the whole qualification. You will however, have a maximum of three (3) months to complete your assessments from the final date of your course workshops. Where you have difficulties meeting this timeframe please contact us in writing to apply for an extension of time. Are there any prerequisites? There are no specific prerequisites to enrol in the program except that you have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills. For example, you will need literacy skills to prepare training and assessment documentation and records and reports. You will also need to be able to write training plans and training sessions and answer case study and short answer questions to assess underpinning knowledge. Where participants have difficulty meeting this requirement, please contact us to discuss options for assisted learning. You will also need basic computer skills, including word processing and use of power point, as well as have access to a computer and the internet. For example, you will be required to research the internet as part of analysing relevant training packages to develop and design a learning program. Recognition of Prior Learning or Direct Credit You can apply to have your prior learning and skills recognised against a unit of study prior to enrolment only. Future Skills also recognises relevant Statements of Attainment and/or qualifications issued by other registered training organisations for the purposes of direct credit transfer. Contact us to discuss your options first. Structure of the Qualification To complete the full Certificate, individuals are required to complete ten (10) units of competency. Seven (7) of these are core units (mandatory) and the remainder are elective. The three (3) electives have been selected to reflect the skills and capabilities required to develop business opportunities for you as a trainer and assessor working within the VET system.

3 Units of Study A summary of the ten (10) units of study are outlined below: TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programs Conceptualise, design, develop and review learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners. You will be able to identify the parameters of a learning program, determine the design, outline the content and review its effectiveness. TAEDES402A Use Training Packages and accredited courses to meet client needs Use training packages and accredited courses as tools to support industry, organisation and individual competency development needs. TAEDEL401A Plan, organise and deliver group based learning Working from a learning program developed by someone else, and structuring the learning around that program, you will be able to plan, organise and deliver training for individuals within a group. TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace You will be able to plan, organise and facilitate learning for individuals in a workplace, including establishing an effective work environment for learning, and establishing, developing and implementing the work based learning relationship. TAEASS401A Plan assessment activities and processes You will be able to plan and organise the assessment process, including recognition of prior learning (RPL), in a competency-based assessment system, as well as develop simple assessment instruments and tools. TAEASS402A Assess competence You will be able to assess the competence of a learner, including preparing for assessment, gathering quality evidence, supporting the candidate, making the assessment decision, reporting and recording the assessment decision, and reviewing the assessment process.

4 TAEAS403A Participate in assessment validation You will be able to participate in the processes and outcomes of assessment validation. Validation is a process involving assessors working in collaboration to review, compare and evaluate their assessment process and their assessment outcomes in relation to the same unit(s) of competency. This includes validating assessment methods and tools, the evidence that was collected using these assessment methods and tools and the interpretation of that evidence to make a judgment of competence. BSBCMM401A Make a presentation This unit applies to individuals who may be expected to make presentations for a range of purposes, such as marketing, training, promotions etc. You will be able to prepare, deliver and review a presentation to a target audience. BSBMKG413A Promote products and services You will be able to coordinate and review the promotion of an organisation's products and services within the VET sector. BSBREL402A Build client relationships and business networks You will be able to establish, maintain and improve client relationships, and to actively participate in networks to support attainment of key business outcomes.

5 Employability Skills Summary EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS QUALIFICATION SUMMARY The following table contains a summary of the employability skills required by industry for this qualification. The employability skills facets described here are broad industry requirements that may vary depending on qualification packaging options. Employability skill Industry/enterprise requirements for this qualification include: Communication interpreting client needs and writing to these using a range of communication skills, such as listening, questioning, reading, interpreting and writing documents writing hazard and incident reports using effective facilitation and interpersonal skills, including verbal and non-verbal language that is sensitive to the needs and differences of others mentoring, coaching and tutoring techniques Teamwork working with colleagues to compare, review, and evaluate assessment processes and outcomes actively participating in assessment validation sessions managing work relationships and seeking feedback from colleagues and clients on professional performance developing and evaluating with others learning programs customised for individual or group needs Problem-solving identifying hazards and assessing risks in the learning environment using time-management skills in designing learning programs calculating costs of programs and logistics of delivery, and accessing appropriate resources generating a range of options to meet client needs Initiative and enterprise interpreting the learning environment and selecting delivery approaches which motivate and engage learners monitoring and improving work practices to enhance inclusivity and learning being creative to meet clients' training needs applying design skills to develop innovative and flexible cost-effective programs Planning and organising researching, reading, analysing and interpreting workplace specifications planning, prioritising and organising workflow interpreting collected evidence and making judgements of competency documenting action plans and hazard reports working with clients in developing personal or group learning programs organising the human, physical and material resources required for learning and assessment
