Head Office: 517 Victoria Street Brunswick West 3055 Phone: FAX: Web: Mailing Address: P.O. Box 171 Brunswick West 3055 Monday, April 11, 2016 Thank you for your enquiry regarding our Certificate IV in Training and Assessment program. We are proud to be the first Victorian-registered RTO to deliver the qualification. COURSE INFORMATION The Australian Institute of Education and Training provides two options for you to complete the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Full training program One of the most common options is to attend the full training program. This option is generally advisable for participants who do not have any formal training qualification, and have not delivered nationally-recognised training in the past few years. Recognition of Prior Learning There are a variety of options available to participants to complete the TAE40110 using the RPL pathway. You may have: TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment If you have this qualification, plus recent training and assessment experience, you can qualify for the RPL pathway. If you produce your certified qualification with a list of the units completed, we will be able to advise you of the credit that you can receive. You may have no prior qualifications, but you do have recent training and assessment experience. In this case, you are still eligible for the RPL pathway. Upon registration, you will be issued with an RPL kit.

Blended options: Please note that we do not provide Distance Education for the TAE This is because the requirements of the TAE40110 make it very difficult to complete many of the units by Distance Education. If you are unable to provide evidence for some units, we can provide you with Assessment Tasks to complete, however, please note, that under NSSC guidelines, we can only provide RPL for an entire unit we cannot give partial RPL and partial Assessment Tasks for a unit. You must therefore either provide evidence for the entire unit or complete Assessment Tasks for the entire unit. Costs: If you have suitable vocational experience and would like to complete the full TAE40110 course via RPL the cost is $800. If you have the TAA40104, the cost of the upgrade to the TAE40110 is $200. If you already have some units (supplied on a Statement of Attainment) then the cost of the RPL is $80 per unit. If this is somewhat confusing, you can FAX across to us your Statement of Attainment and we can provide you with a quote for the cost of completing the qualification. Further pathways Once you have completed the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, you will be eligible to enrol in the TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training. This qualification is designed for professionals who work in the training industry, or would like to work in the training industry in the role of managing the training and assessment system.

ABOUT OUR FACE TO FACE COURSE We run a twelve-day training program for the course, and we would expect that at the end of those twelve days, most participants will have completed the assessment requirements for the course and be able to take away their completed Certificate. We also offer RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) to all of our participants, so if you have experience in training and assessment, this also helps to reduce the amount of time it will take you to complete the qualification. We have priced the program to make it affordable and accessible to you, as well as profitable for us. We believe that our price is reasonable, and that it compares most favourably against other providers fee structures. Further information is given in the following pages under assessment requirements to assist you in determining if this is the path you should select. We are qualified trainers, and have trained trainers and assessors for over ten years. We have also worked with enterprises and other training providers to offer advice and support and to assist them to set up training and assessment systems. To check that we are accredited, we invite you to log on to the Training.gov.au web site ( training.gov.au), select Registered Training Organisations, search by name, and type in our name, or enter our training provider identification number, which is When you click on RTO Training Services, you will see that the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is listed there. Only accredited training organisations are listed on this site. A formal, nationally-recognised qualification is issued by the Australian Institute of Education and Training ( an RTO situated in Brunswick West, Melbourne. Our Registered Provider Number is We run small class sizes up to a maximum of 10 to give us the opportunity to provide you with the best possible customised training, and to give you the best opportunity to complete the course and to actively participate in the training program. All assessment activities are presented during the training program we DO NOT deliver the theory only, and then give you all of the assessment activities and projects to do once the theory component has finished, and then tell you to submit your evidence once you have finished. Other RTO s use this approach we do not. Our completion rate for face to face participants is therefore in excess of 95%, as opposed to much lower completion rates for RTO s that use the alternative pathway. This is why our course is delivered over 12 days rather than a shorter time frame. It is a more significant time commitment from you in the short term, but in the long term we believe that it saves time for you as you do not need to complete work after the course has finished. It is therefore important for you to attend all classes and keep up to date with the activities, so that at the end of the course you will have finished all of the assessment requirements. PLEASE NOTE: We do assume that you have reasonable computer literacy skills; as a trainer, you will be required (and expected) to present typed work to your students. We therefore expect you to be able to use Microsoft Word (or equivalent) and Microsoft PowerPoint (or equivalent). If you believe that your skills may not be up to the standard required to use these program, we do suggest that you enroll in a short course to improve your skills; we can assist you throughout the course, but there is not enough time in the course to allow us to teach you how to use the program.

For participants thinking about RPL, you can use the table at the end of this document to self-assess yourself to ascertain whether you can complete the course by Recognition of Prior Learning. Please keep in mind that RPL cannot be granted for part of a unit. YOUR COMMITTMENT By enrolling in the program, you are committing yourself to 84 hours of face to face classes (12 days from 9 AM to 4 PM each day). You will also need to set aside time each week outside of the class to complete homework tasks and activities; research; and completion of tasks for upcoming classes. The amount of time you are required to spend each week will vary throughout the course, and it will depend on your research skills, Internet skills, and background experiences that you have. We recommend that you plan on spending about 5-7 hours at home for each day of the course i.e. over the 12 days of the course, we would therefore expect you to spend about hours of your own time working on the requirements of the course. SPECIFIC NEEDS: Please contact us if you have any specific needs that we need to be aware of (and please make sure that your specific needs are noted on the registration form). LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY REQUIREMENTS There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, although it is expected that candidates will demonstrate the potential to undertake study at a Certificate IV level. It is therefore recommended that you have good language, literacy and numeracy levels before attempting this course. This means that you will have good reading, writing and comprehension skills in English. Computers are also used throughout the course. It is therefore expected that you have good computer skills and can use a computer to type documents; research using the Internet; complete tables in Word; and develop PowerPoint presentations. The course is very intensive and covers concepts and ideas that you may not have been exposed to, such as learning theories, instructional design principles, adult learning principles, and industry terminology. If you believe that your skills may not be at a Certificate IV level, please contact us to organise an interview. We do not reject candidates but we do like to talk to candidates to explain to them the requirements of the course. PRIOR RECOGNITION: If you believe that you have any prior recognition or learning that may facilitate an RPL claim, please contact us to have a discussion about it. PAYMENT: 12-day training program The cost of the full qualification by training is $1,590. The cost includes the twelve days of training, catering for lunch, notes, and telephone support, assessment of submissions and any required re-submissions, registration, and the printing and mailing out of the certificate.

Payment Options: Cash Credit card (Payment can be made in one lump sum, or in four monthly installments) Bank cheque or money order We have a student handbook on our website which we ask you to read prior to signing the Registration Form. It is available at and then click on the TRAINING link at the top of the page. **PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ONCE THE TRAINING COURSE HAS STARTED. Unique Student Identifier (USI) From 1 st January 2015 any participant who completes a nationally-recognised qualification must obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI can be accessed online from your computer, tablet or smart phone and gives you access to your training records and results at your fingertips. In order to register with us you will need to obtain your USI. You will not be able to register with us, and we will not be able to issue you with a certificate, until you provide us with your USI. The courses will run one day a week on Wednesday from 9 am 4pm each day. Addition class streams may be scheduled upon demand. Classes do not run on public holidays. Participants are expected to attend all sessions of the course. If absences are unavoidable, it is not possible for participants to sit in on another class for that session, because although all courses follow the same schedule, there are individual differences in classes and some classes may be slightly ahead or slightly behind schedule at that point in time. Furthermore, it is disruptive for the trainer and for the participants of that class to have other participants attending for one-off sessions. If you are absent from a session it is therefore your responsibility to catch up on the activities that you have missed.

Course structure for Certificate IV in Training and Assessment The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment consists of 10 units seven (7) core and three (3) elective units as follows: CORE UNITS TAEASS401B TAEASS402B TAEASS403B TAEDEL401A TAEDEL402A TAEDES401A TAEDES402A ELECTIVE UNITS TAEASS301B TAEDEL301A TAELLN411 Plan assessment activities and processes Assess competence Participate in assessment validation Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace Design and develop learning programs Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs Contribute to assessment Provide work skill instruction Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills. Assessment requirements for Certificate IV in Training and Assessment You are required to deliver 3 facilitation sessions. These are delivered during the 12 days of the course. You will deliver the sessions to two participants in the course. You are required to deliver a 40-minute training session and a 1-hour training session. These are delivered during the 12 days of the course. You are also required to deliver one 40-minute session to a group of external people. These may be people in your workplace; people in an alternative workplace; or a group of participants you assemble and then deliver the training external to a workplace. The 40-minute session will be the same as the 40-muinute session delivered during the course. If you are intending on enrolling for our course, you should start to think about the make-up of the external group, and let them know that you will need to deliver a 40- minute session to them. The size of the group needs to be a minimum of 4, with one person designated to be the observer. The observer will need to complete a feedback form that will be provided to you at the start of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process whereby YOU provide evidence for each of the units in the qualification. What you are basically saying is that you have relevant and appropriate work experience that allows you to provide evidence demonstrating that you are currently competent in each of the units in the qualification. Please note that RPL applies to an entire unit, so it is not possible to submit partial-rpl for a unit and complete the rest of the unit by face to face training. The onus is on you to supply the evidence, not for us to help you collect the evidence, or assist you with projects, etc., to complete in order to submit them as evidence. If you register for the RPL process, you are saying that you can supply the appropriate and relevant evidence. Please also note that our face to face course is delivered holistically, and not unit by unit, so it is not possible to complete a partial face to face course and partial RPL with us. Possible evidence for RPL NOTE this is a guide only. Also access the Training.gov.au website and check your own experience against the relevant units. You should be able to demonstrate current experience in the delivery and assessment of Nationally Recognised training programs or accredited curricula. Nationally recognized Training programs are underpinned by units of competency contained in National Training Packages. National Training packages are a set of nationally-endorsed competency standards, assessment guidelines and Australian Qualifications framework qualifications for a specific industry, industry sector or enterprise. For example, Cert III in Business is a nationally- recognised qualification contained in the Business Services Training Package. Accredited Curricula or Accredited Courses means a structured sequence of vocational education and training that has been accredited and leads to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Qualification or Statement of attainment. National Training Packages and units of competency and Accredited courses can be accessed via the NTIS website: What follows is a self-evaluation form. This is for you to fill in to see if you can apply for RPL. If you tick Yes for all items in a unit, you are saying to yourself that you can complete the unit by RPL. If you are sure of this, apply for RPL. We will then provide you with access to our on-line RPL program, where you upload the evidence on line for assessment. Ticking Yes for each item is not the end of the process you don t get the qualification just by clicking yes, and the self-evaluation form is not the RPL process, it is just a guide for you to ascertain whether you can complete the process by RPL or not.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Self-evaluation form prior to undertaking the RPL process This is a self-evaluation form only, and is provided to you to assist you in making your decision as to whether you can complete the qualification by RPL.
