2 NATIONAL COURSE CODE: TAE40110 COURSE NAME: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Block Delivery Program Course overview The qualification is essential for those who want to start a career as an accredited trainer and assessor either with Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or in a workplace carrying out internal training. This qualification has become the standard for leaders in most industries and services and is often listed as a requirement when advertising leadership positions Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as: Workplace Trainer Workplace Assessor RTO Trainer RTO Assessor Training Adviser or Training needs analyst Vocational Education Teacher Please note: to be employed as a Trainer and Assessor by an RTO: You must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its successor) or a qualification in adult education at a diploma or higher level You must also have - Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed - Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided; and - Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment The design of this intensive Block Delivery Program suits a specific student group typically with prior work place experience and knowledge (refer to Target Students on page 3 for further details). The AWCC Block Delivery Program (BDP) is designed to provide the benefits of face to face contact, and being part of a class group sharing knowledge and experiences, without the need to be in class every week. It also provides the ability to plan assessment tasks around work and family commitments. Delivery: Duration: On campus, face to face delivery Students will be required to attend twelve (12) face-to-face sessions over eight (8) full days, within a classroom, over the duration of the course. These sessions, delivered over five (5) blocks, will consist of three (3) blocks of 2 days and two (2) blocks of single days. The single day blocks are for the purpose of delivery of holistic assessment tasks. The three blocks of 2 consecutive days are delivered on Friday and Saturday with one month between each block. The single day blocks are negotiated with the Trainer/ Assessor and include the student conducting training sessions in their workplace or in a simulated work place environment. 3 What resources are available to me? All resources are costed and included in detail on the fee schedule on the Albury Wodonga Community College website. You will be provided with all required text books, work booklets, a polo shirt for work placement, USB stick and welcome packs. There are no hidden costs, they are all clearly detailed on the fee schedule that is available on the AWCC website. How can I complete this course? At the Albury Wodonga Community College we strive to deliver quality courses that are convenient to your needs. This course is offered on campus with a component of a Holistic Portfolio. What assessments will I be required to complete? You will need to: - Attend and participate in all classes unless otherwise arranged with the Department Coordinator - Competently complete compulsory practical training and observation in your workplace - Competently complete all assessment activities including allocated tasks, projects, scenarios, case studies, questions and work books There are 10 assessment tasks (1 for each subject) and a Holistic Assessment Task in the form of a portfolio which is to be submitted within 12 weeks of the completion face to face delivery. Each student is also required to conduct a training session on one full unit of competence to a minimum of 8 adults on two occasions. One of these training sessions will be conducted on the assessment day the other is to be conducted in the students workplace as part of the Holistic Portfolio. Timing is to be negotiated with the assessor within the 12 week period. As this is a Certificate IV course you can expect to do at least 3 hours of study per subject outside of the face to face delivery blocks As an adult learner you are to raise any concerns or problems that you may have in regards to completing any aspect of the course as soon as possible with your Trainer and Assessor or Department Coordinator to ensure actions can be put in place. What costs are involved? Our costs for this course are clearly detailed on our schedule of fees located on our website. Course costs include all materials and resources required. Please read the information below to help determine if you might be eligible for government funding. *Victoria Training Guarantee Eligibility This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible individuals. To claim funding you must first meet the eligibility criteria. Visit the Victorian Department Education and Early Childhood Development website for further information regarding funding under the Victorian Training Guarantee Your eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis. What support will be available? Each course has a dedicated Department Coordinator to support you through your course. In addition to this, you will have one or more Trainers and Assessors who teach, assess and support you throughout your course. All our staff are highly qualified trainers and assessors and specialists in the field they are teaching so they can offer you the most current and comprehensive knowledge to complete your course in readiness for industry. 2 of 8
4 Are there any prerequisites required? - Course Application Form. Self-assessment information is collected in the Course Application Form. This is reviewed and discussed in the pre-enrolment interview with each individual. - Pre-enrolment interviews. These are conducted with every student to determine their competency and suitability to complete the course. Should learning assistance be required individualized plans are put in place for students. - Language, Literacy and Numeracy Under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Standards our organisation is required to assess the language, literacy and numeracy skills of all prospective students in order to determine the LLN skill level each prospective student has according to the demands of the course program the student is seeking to undertake. This accredited LLN tool will be completed as part of the pre-enrolment process.candidates seeking to undertake this course must have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills. - You must have basic computer knowledge and access to complete your course. - You must have basic internet knowledge and access to complete your course. Target Students: In response to industry and student feedback, the AWCC has designed an intensive delivery model to suit a specific student audience typically with prior work place experience and knowledge. It would be expected that a student will have one or more of the following: - Hold current relevant vocational/ industry qualifications - Have a minimum of 3 years work experience relevant to their vocational and/ or industry qualification - Have some experiences in working as a Trainer in a vocational and/ or industry sector - Wish to upskill or transition from their current training and assessment qualification. Subjects to be completed in this course In order to gain the full qualification, you must successfully complete a total of 10 units and delivery two training sessions to a minimum of 8 people.
