The Conference Events The two day Conference provides a valuable arena for delegates to listen to current issues from speakers within the WA sector, as well as national and international speakers, providing context to the important work carried out on a daily basis by thousands of workers and volunteers. Held every two years, the Conference begins with a sector collaboration and networking day. This day is an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions and focus on complex issues that are at the heart of every day service delivery. Issues covered include mental health, Indigenous and migrant issues, regional, youth, poverty and housing. On the evening of the second day of the Conference WACOSS will once again host the Community Services Excellence Awards. The Awards have been acknowledging outstanding community service since 1994 and provide recognition for the many organisations and individuals engaged in this sector. About WACOSS The Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) is the leading peak organisation for the community, representing 300 member organisations and affiliates and 600 organisations involved in the provision of services to the community. WACOSS is part of a national network consisting of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) and state and territory affiliates. WACOSS national coverage strengthens its capacity to represent state interests. WACOSS speaks with and for the 400,000 West Australians who used community services in the past year, whose voice and interests need to be brought to the attention of government, business, decisions makers, media and the wider community. WACOSS and its members aim to improve the quality of life of people disadvantaged by the inequities of our society. Conference Promotion A professionally planned marketing strategy ensures coverage opportunities in electronic, print and broadcast media throughout Australia. Media coverage of the Conference typically commences 6 months in advance, for the purpose of promoting and creating awareness in the sector. WACOSS employs Professional Event Organisers to ensure the conference is well publicised. Traditionally the conference is opened by the Premier and receives live TV coverage as well as print and radio media. Promotional material produced for the Conference is extensive and includes radio programs, adverts, media releases, brochures, guidebook, postcards, fact sheets and flyers. If the cancellation is received by 17 February 2014, an administration fee of 25% of the total price is retained.
