NATIONAL EVENTS OVERVIEW Annual sponsors receive prominent branding on event signage, program materials, advertising, general sessions and ticketed events at NAHREP national conferences. LEADERSHIP ACADEMY The NAHREP Leadership Academy's mission and vision is to provide a platform to discover and further develop skill sets for future and current NAHREP leaders. The program is delivered in one session held in June in Washington DC. The program includes a Micro leadership focus providing tools and a framework for achieving excellence at the local level and a Macro' leadership focus, focusing on the secondary mortgage market, national housing policy and Hispanic political advocacy. HOUSING POLICY & HISPANIC LENDING CONFERENCE NATIONAL CONVENTION & LATIN MUSIC FESTIVAL Every spring, NAHREP hosts its housing policy conference in Washington, D.C., that has a reputation for being one of the capitol s largest policy conferences on minority homeownership issues. The conference attracts an engaged group of approximately 500 real estate professionals and features national housing leaders, corporate executives and policy makers. Past events have included a panel featuring key Latino lawmakers Congressman Tony Cardenas, Congressman Xavier Becerra and Congressman Juan Vargas, a keynote address by former HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, and an address by applauded journalist Soledad O Brien. The three-day event concludes with face-to-face meetings with key lawmakers on Capitol Hill where conference attendees advocate NAHREP s annual policy positions. NAHREP s marquee convention will be held at the Chicago Hilton in downtown Chicago and is expected to exceed all previous attendance records. The 2014 convention drew the largest number of first-time attendees in NAHREP s history, breaking all previous attendance records. The convention included keynote speeches by award winning journalist Sandra Guzman, a wealth building townhall with industry veterans including Former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa, and NAHREP s first ever, one-of-a-kind stage production, 53 Million & One, which shines a spotlight on the desire to succeed and the experiences of the more than 53 million Latinos who call America home.
