BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY LINCOLN JOB DESCRIPTION Title of Post: Temporary Psychology Placement Officer Grade: Grade 4 Responsible to: Head of Social Sciences MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To undertake a range of administrative and liaison tasks and to monitor and ensure the quality of placement partnerships for psychology under the guidance of the AC Psychology. KEY TASKS 1. To identify, make contact with and offer ongoing liaison with placement providers. 2. To carry out risk assessment of placements. 3. To ensure completion of contract with placement provider. 4. To attend regular meetings with the AC Psychology and keep to agreed action plans. 5. To assist the AC Psychology with the day to day running of the placements. 6. To undertake administrative duties appropriate to the role, such as maintaining a data base of providers and student placements. 7. To liaise with both students and external organisations when and if appropriate. 8. To alert the AC psychology to any potential risks, issues or problems regarding a student placement. 9. Keep accurate records in relation to people attending particular placements including payments that have been received/requested/made. 10. To participate in an end of project evaluation process with the AC Psychology. 11. To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required. 1
PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND REVIEW 1. To attend appropriate training and staff development sessions and participate in the staff appraisal process. 2. To attend regular meetings with the AC Psychology to gradually gain knowledge of the professional standards of the British Psychological Society and the ethical guidelines regarding working with different client groups. 3. To provide written reports on activity as requested. Health and Safety 4. To comply with the University s Health, Safety and Welfare Policy, legislation and practice. General 5. To maintain professional standards in relationships, including non discriminatory practices. 6. To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required, including administrative duties appropriate to the role to support the Project Officer. 7. Provide written reports on activity as requested. 8. To adopt a client centred approach and to deal promptly and considerately with members of the public, staff and students. 9. The post holder must operate within the University s Financial Regulations, Diversity and Equality Policy, Race Equality Policy and other relevant policies. BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY LINCOLN Psychology Placement Officer Education/ Qualifications and Special Training Knowledge and Skills Core Training in the use of Excel, Microsoft Word and other relevant software Good understanding of the Third Sector, voluntary organisations, community groups and bodies such as the NHS and County Council Understanding of the role of placement and work experience in psychology and allied undergraduate programmes Awareness of the challenges of inter agency work with vulnerable community groups Excellent organisational skills Good IT skills including Excel and Microsoft Word Good administrative skills Supplementary Understanding of Share point and customer relationship management software Knowledge of the HE environment Excellent project administration skills Experience Experience of liaison and partnership building/collaborative practice between a Higher Education Institution and the local community.
