1 Ann Arbor Urological Health Services Research Symposium September 18-19, 2014
2 Dear Colleagues, On September 18-19, 2014, the Dow Division of Health Services Research in the University of Michigan Department of Urology will host the 2nd Ann Arbor Urological Health Services Research Symposium. Building on the highly successful initial symposium held in 2012, we will gather experts in urological HSR, as well as national thought leaders in the social sciences, to expand the boundaries of our current research agendas. In this year s symposium, we will focus on opportunities for big data to improve healthcare quality. In addition, we will discuss the implications of social networks on urological care, and the roles of implementation science and quality improvement interventions to enhance care delivery. We have chosen topics that are not the typical material for urological HSR in order to provide a new and diverse learning experience that we hope will stimulate innovation. Please join us for a truly unique event. Sincerely, David C. 3 PROGRAM GOALS The landscape of health care delivery is changing rapidly on a national stage. Understanding how delivery system reform and health services research impact the delivery of urological care is essential to advancing the field. Through an innovative, comprehensive, and stimulating agenda, the Ann Arbor Urological Health Services Research Symposium will provide urologists, other providers, and researchers with the most effective ways to organize, research, manage, finance, and deliver high quality care within urology and beyond. Participants will gain valuable insight into the current status and impact of urological health services research as well as the opportunities and challenges from experts in and outside of the field. Attendees will better understand and be able to implement recent advances in scientific methods for conducting health services research, translating research into practice, and anticipating the next frontiers of urological health services research.
