1 About the Conference Ten years ago, we had the vision to create an independent technical conference that was different. "Independent" in that we weren't a vendor conference that was full of one vendor's marketing propaganda, and "technical" in that we wanted our conference to be highly-practical and geared towards system admins, architects, engineers, and decision makers who spend their days in the trenches will be our tenth year and 15th BriForum, and we're proud that attendees have consistently called it "the best IT conference they've ever attended." BriForum is about end-user computing the group of technologies including desktop virtualization, enterprise mobility management, and the consumerization of IT. We live, eat, and breathe at the point where end users intersect enterprise IT technology. We talk about desktops virtualization and VDI products and we dig into enterprise mobility technologies which allow companies to securely extend their IT environments to phones and tablets powered by Android and ios. And we cover the nerve-wracking yet very real trend called "consumerization" the fact that today's end users can basically do whatever they want regardless of whether IT is on board or grants permission will be a big year for enterprise end-user computing: VDI is finally entering the mainstream thanks to several enabling technologies which are just now maturing. We're also seeing an explosion in the "client-based virtualization" area, with client hypervisors and client-based VMs finally hitting the mainstream. When it comes to enterprise mobility, we now have a range of enterprise mobility management (EMM), mobile device management (MDM), and mobile app management (MAM) solutions that enable true "dual persona" on users' tablets and phones. The trend of "consumerization" is now broadly-recognized as being a "way of life" rather than a "passing fad," and we're finally seeing enterprise-focused IT products from vendors that allow IT to maintain the control and compliance they need against a backdrop of users being able to buy and use whatever they want.
