2 4.1 What is a Parall Corpus In the context of a Translation Memory system, such parall corpora are called Translation Memories. In this class and the next, we will explore: Various tools for converting two texts into a parall corpus. Various uses for parall corpora apart from TMs. There are various tools available for converting two texts into a parall corpus. 1. Manual editing in a spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Exc) 2. As a source of word frequency data: One can ask corpus management software to tl you which words are key to this corpus (most important to this kind of text). These are terms that you should probably put in your translation lexicon. 5
