1 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Benson s 125 th Anniversary Celebration FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2012 Concert & Fireworks in Benson Park Benson Days begins with a concert and professional fireworks display in Benson Park! Pancake Breakfast Start your day enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast with friends and neighbors. Presented by and proceeds to support the Benson Neighborhood Association. Benson Days Parade Community parade featuring floats, antique cars, marching bands and much more! Benson Days Street Festival Benson s annual street festival will be bigger and better than ever! Peruse vendors and artists along Maple Street. Children will LOVE the new Kids Zone. History buffs can t miss the Meadowlark Ford Car Show and various Benson historical tours and displays throughout the area. Tempt your taste buds at the food vendors booths. Tired? Grab a seat and cool drink in our beer garden while enjoying live music on the Main Stage. Benson Days After Dark Adults ages 21+ can purchase a wrist-band for only $10 and enjoy admission to five different Benson bars, each featuring five different bands. 25 bands in total! Proceeds support future Benson community events. Inter-Faith Church Service & Potluck Lunch All churches and their congregations in the Benson area are invited to participate in this inter-faith community church service in Gallagher Park, followed by a potluck lunch. Meat & drinks provided - Attendees asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. 5 SATURDAY, JULY 28, 2012 STREET FESTIVAL VENDOR APPLICATION Benson Days is a community celebration event held every summer on Maple Street between 59th and 63rd streets. This year s street festival will feature an arts & crafts fair, pancake breakfast, antique auto show, community parade, fun activities for families during the day, street entertainers, a Kid Zone and much more. The afternoon entertainment will heat up with a beer garden, street dance and plenty of live music. 6 SATURDAY, JULY 28, 2012 NOTICE: MAPLE STREET CLOSURE Benson Days 125 organizers are working with the City of Omaha and State of Nebraska to close Maple Street on Saturday, July 28, 2012 for the Benson Days street festival. Merchants with brick-and-mortar storefronts will have priority for the spaces in front of their stores until June 25. Members of the Benson Business Association receive a $20 discount per space. Nearly 100 spaces along Maple Street are now available to vendors and artists on a first come/first served basis. VENDOR BOOTH SPACE booth. Organizers will try not to place similar vendors near each other, but guarantees will not be made. (maximum) for a fee of $60.00 per space. per space. not allowed in your booth space. (Alcoholic beverages are only allowed in the designated beer garden area.) take the time to deposit your own trash in the nearest container throughout the day. workers and the public. or microphones. ARTIST VENDORS: Submit five photos. A limited number of booth spaces will be available for student artists. Organizers reserve the right to limit or refuse any vendor. NON-PREPACKAGED FOOD VENDORS from the City of Omaha ($25) and the Douglas County Health Department ($65). STREET FESTIVAL VENDOR PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES VENDOR PARTICIPATION late registrants will accrue an additional $25 late fee. No new vendors will be allowed to register after Friday, July 20, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., unless prior arrangements have been made and agreed upon with the Benson Days team. SET UP & TEAR DOWN and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, Individuals or groups arriving after 9:30 a.m. will not have access to drive up unloading. Because a parade will proceed down Maple Street, all booths must be set up and vehicles (except auto show entries) moved off Maple Street by 9:30 a.m. the event. Benson Days reserves the right, and will charge, any vendor a cleaning fee of $50.00 should they leave their space(s) in a condition that requires additional cleaning. Your organization/ business agrees to pay this fee, as a condition of participating in the Benson Days event. PARKING You may park in available spaces on the public streets surrounding Maple Street. No vehicles other than auto show vehicles are allowed on the enclosed Maple Street during Benson Days. Sections of Maple Street will open up throughout the day for evening parking. LIMITATION TO STATED ACTIVITIES You must limit your activities at the Benson Days to those you state on your application. You must also limit the conduct of those activities to your booth space(s). Sales or distribution of anything done by walking throughout the Benson Days grounds is not permitted. CANCELLATIONS You may cancel your application in writing at any time up until Friday, June 25, 2012 for a refund of all fees paid. Cancellations made after this date will not be refunded. REGISTRATION FEES The entire balance is due at the time the application is submitted. Only payments made by check or money order will be accepted. Checks and/or money orders should be made payable to: Benson Business Association. Please refer to the fee table on the application for costs. As a value added to membership, Benson Business Association members receive a $20 discount per space. FAILURE TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES/LAWS Benson Days reserves the right to remove you from the event grounds for failure to follow these guidelines, the instructions of the Benson Days event committee or the laws and regulations of the City of Omaha, the State of Nebraska or any organizations under those governmental entities. This would occur without any refund or other compensation.
7 2012 PARADE ENTRY FORM You are invited to participate in the 2012 Benson Neighborhood Association s (BNA) Benson Days Parade. This event is very special this year as 2012 is the 125th Anniversary of Benson s founding. We have partnered with the Benson Business Association (BBA) this year on Benson Days. This weekend will be the premier event of the year of celebrations here in Benson. Do not miss out on this opportunity to be part of this great event and celebration. Put a leash on your dog, decorate your child s wagon or bike and fill out a registration. As in previous years, the parade will start at Gallagher Park at 52nd and Maple (Northwest Radial Highway) Streets and continue through the Benson Business District ending at 63rd and Maple Streets. Please plan to be at the starting point no later than 9:15 a.m. When you arrive at Gallagher Park, please check in at the INFORMATION TABLE. If you are interested in being a part of this neighborhood event, please complete the form at the bottom of this page and return it no later than June 25, Information about the location for each participant will be mailed July 16, Feel free to make copies of this application for your Benson friends and neighbors. If for some reason your group is unable to participate at the last minute, please call (402) before 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the parade.
