2 THE WOMEN WE SERVE Dress for Success is an international non-profit whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to almost 150 cities in 20 countries. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 850,000 women work towards self-sufficiency. About 80% of our clients are mothers, aged 18 to 38 with 2 to 3 children on average 63% rely on public assistance to make ends meet Our clients represent all races and ethnicities 2

3 SUCCESS SNAPSHOT: IN HER OWN WORDS Before I came to Dress for Success Worldwide-West, my biggest challenge was maintaining a job as well as knowing how to pinpoint my strengths. I have benefited immensely from the Professional Women s Group (PWG) workshops. I interact with presenters who are professional women who have doctorates and are CEOs of large companies. Each workshop gave me valuable tools to use to help me turn my life around. I now feel more equipped in my future employment and financial goals. The monthly PWG meetings give me hope. I will be forever grateful to Dress for Success for giving me a hand up instead of a hand out. Velvet V. Dress for Success Worldwide West Professional Women s Group Member Velvet has recently received HUD Housing and Peer to Peer Advocacy training from the Department of Mental Health and financial training from the State Department of Rehabilitation. Currently, she is an Ambassador for Epson Printers and is working on her licensing, in hopes to open a re-entry program for first offenders called Trust and Believe Empowerment. 3

4 SIGNATURE PROGRAMS Dress for Success addresses every phase of a woman s career: from being unemployed and searching to recently employed and adjusting to gainfully employed and succeeding We are able to achieve such a wide-scale, positive impact by providing a continuum of services, so that the women we serve may evolve into leaders in the workforce, as well as leaders in life, as effectively and efficiently as possible. 4

Dress for Success Worldwide-West is offering an opportunity for companies and individuals in the Los Angeles area to support the organization s mission and build their own professional networks. Launched in 2014, the corporate council provides Dress for Success Worldwide-West with a sustainable base of financial support, access to passionate and skilled volunteers, opportunities to increase visibility of the organization in Los Angeles, and potential employment opportunities for Dress for Success clients. Members of the Corporate Council will receive valuable benefits, including networking and professional development opportunities with like-minded corporations and individuals, access to qualified and dedicated job candidates, and public recognition as a champion of economic independence for disadvantaged women in the greater Los Angeles area. *Corporations and business professionals support Dress for Success Worldwide-West because they see the value at many levels. 5
