Philanthropy Toolkit
Philanthropy at Jones Lang LaSalle At Jones Lang LaSalle, we believe that helping our communities is part of our culture. That s why we ve developed Community Connections, our comprehensive philanthropy program that allows us to support causes we believe in, connect with our clients and engage in shaping a better world. An effective corporate philanthropy program enhances the relationship between a company, its employees, its clients and its communities. From volunteer activities to disaster relief to charitable giving, our people make a hands-on difference that fosters employee satisfaction and builds connections with our clients. Rather than mandate one cause or direction, we believe it s more meaningful for employees and teams to choose their activities to support organizations that make a difference in the communities where they work and live. However, we also feel that it s important to focus our efforts to make a measurable difference. So we looked at the causes we currently support and found that at this time, they primarily focus on three major areas of giving: 1. Health Organizations 2. Education Programs 3. Youth and At-Risk Family Charities 5HJDUGOHVV RI WKH VSHFL F FKDULW\ VHOHFWHG WKH &RPPXQLW\ &RQQHFWLRQV 7RRONLW LV LQWHQGHG WR KHOS -RQHV Lang LaSalle integrate our core values with community needs, establish goals and strategies for giving, involve employees, and provide ways to document these activities and evaluate our efforts.
Why We Give Back To maintain a competitive advantage in the business world, we cannot afford to be disconnected from our communities, customers, clients or employees. By having a comprehensive giving program in place, we support our corporate mission to offer real value in a changing world. back to our communities. It feels good doing it, and, quite simply, it s the right thing to do. But corporate giving isn t just a matter of conscience; it s also an ability to balance business and community goals. The Goals of Our Community Connections Program We have a passion for giving back not only to communities we call home, but also to communities across our network. Jones Lang LaSalle has a reputation for making meaningful contributions to causes that impact both our people and our clients. Through difference. Our program helps us: Connect With Our Clients A company s corporate philanthropy framework tells you what s at its core. Clients are drawn to brands that are socially committed and regularly give back to society. They expect companies to do more doing so. Community Connections aims to: Increase awareness of the Jones Lang LaSalle brand and our commitment to and involvement with the communities where we do business Strengthen client loyalty and connect with new clients Illustrate our culture and core values Connect With Our Employees Our employees have told us they appreciate the opportunity to spend time together volunteering. We ve found that passion and creativity thrive when employees know their efforts make a difference. Their participation contributes to: Leadership and interpersonal skills development Stronger relationships with colleagues and clients Engagement and retention Exposure to new ideas, perspectives and social movements Improved morale, increased well-being, and positive attitudes toward employers and colleagues Connect with Future Employees Community involvement helps to build a quality workforce in two ways. It supports recruitment efforts because employees are attracted to companies that give back. It also helps to build the workforce of tomorrow through our involvement in education programs such as Junior Achievement, that provide students with workplace training and career role models. Community involvement promotes: Employee attraction and retention Enhanced employee morale through a common sense of purpose Healthier and economically stronger communities A source of goodwill in our communities A greater understanding of community needs Convey Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion diverse communities are recognized, appreciated and respected. By participating in initiatives that help improve the communities surrounding us, Jones Lang LaSalle and our people build trust and camaraderie with one another, with members of these communities, and with present and future clients. Just as important as appreciating importance of a diverse workforce. By mirroring our D&I community commitment internally, we: Attract, develop and retain great talent with varied backgrounds, experiences and perspectives Create a culture that unleashes the full potential of all employees Support our clients supplier diversity initiatives by creating strong partnerships with women- and minority-owned businesses
Our Approach Philanthropy doesn t start with dollars. It starts with ideas to help communities and those around us. One of What issue or issues will we address, and why? What form will the philanthropy take? How will we rally our company s core values? The Four Pillars Community Connections addresses these questions with its four pillars, which guide Jones Lang LaSalle s social responsibility and give context to Charitable giving that directly supports local community organizations Volunteerism in which employees make a hands-on difference Matching gifts for causes employees support personally Disaster relief to provide aid when tragedy strikes Quite often, these four distinct aspects merge and intertwine for a greater impact. For instance, volunteer work at a blood drive may inspire a charitable donation. Or a natural disaster may increase employees matching gift limits. It s important to identify needs as they present themselves to ensure we leave a profound footprint and make a more powerful difference. Community Connections focuses on the means as well as the end. By aligning our giving with a strategy, we don t just give money we donate our talent, time and distinctive capabilities. While donations and dollars make a difference for communities, the experience of participation and making a hands-on difference can change the lives of our employees and transform our company.
How We Get It Done: Bringing the Four Pillars to Life 1. Matching Employee Donations Firm Policy: Through the Jones Lang LaSalle Matching Gifts Program, our employees can donate to the causes that touch their hearts, and we will provide a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $250 per employee, per year. How to Connect: After making a donation, employees must: Complete the Employee Matching Gift Form. Submit a copy of the IRS 501(c)(3) form from the organization or have the receiving organization complete and sign Section II of the Matching Gift Form. 2. Volunteerism Firm Policy: time employees spend volunteering hundreds of hours to countless community efforts across the country each year. How to Connect: Each market offers its own volunteer opportunities that encourage employees to engage with and serve their communities. Under the guidance of the Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Responsibility Committee, hundreds of employees are able to participate in activities that promote education, health and well-being, and our comprehensive tracking capabilities empower and recognize their efforts. 3. Financial Aid for Natural Disasters Firm Policy: Jones Lang LaSalle takes its role on the global stage very seriously, which is why we have an extensive plan in place for disaster relief. At the beginning of each year, the Global Disaster Relief Committee allocates an annual budget, as determined by the CEO, for two types of aid: immediate relief and long-term rebuilding efforts. How to Connect: When disaster strikes, we take action. We determine the direct impact to our employees and/or clients. We turn our attention to determining how we can best help the region recover from the tragedy. Disaster relief funds are tapped and allocated where needed. Employees may make donations and apply for matching funds. suspended for natural disasters. Jones Lang LaSalle matches employee donations up to an additional $250 per disaster with no impact to matched funds for the causes they regularly support during the year. 4. Charitable Donations Firm Policy: Jones Lang LaSalle proudly supports organizations that strengthen our communities. Our business and marketing teams support various charities across the country, often in collaboration with our clients. Collectively, we donate nearly $1.5 million annually. success by giving back to local and national causes. Charitable Costs: We identify causes to sponsor based on prior relationships with and commitments to the organization or cause, colleagues are often invited to contribute. Charitable Deal Costs: A pool of money is available to support broker requests to fund charitable events or causes related to a deal, prospect or client relationship. The cost is split evenly and subject to an approval process while tied to annual budgets within markets that relate to account and client goals. How to Connect: Local and national charities are selected by each Jones Lang LaSalle location, both for charitable costs and for deal costs. At this time, we generally focus our charitable donations on three major types of giving health organizations, education programs, and youth and at-risk family charities to better support our communities and leverage our efforts to improve quality of life. hundreds of local and national charities, our people often go the extra mile to raise additional funds.
