7 785 ISO 900 Burner Controls LOK6... LGK6... Series...A... Burner controls with self-checking flme signl mplifier, for continuously operting multistge or modulting oil or gs urners of medium to high cpcity; with ir pressure supervision for checked ir dmper control. The LOK6... / LGK6... nd this Dt Sheet re intended for OEs which integrte the urner controls in their products. Use Burner controls type LOK6... / LGK6... feture self-checking flme supervision circuit. Tht supervision circuit initites the required sfety ctions not only in the cse of premture or missing flme signls, ut lso in the event of ny kind of fult on the flme detector, the detector cles or the flme signl mplifier tht could simulte flme signl during urner opertion HVAC roducts

The urner controls re therefore suited for use in ll types of oil- or gs-fired comustion plnts where self-checking flme supervision systems re either mndtory or recommendle: - Burners tht operte continuously - Burners in intermittent opertion tht, in the cse of gret het demnd, my operte continuously for more thn 4 hours, e.g. in plnts using oiler sequencing - Burners tht need to comply with the Germn TRD 4 nd TRD 4 regultions for stem oilers - Burners in plnts where, for specific sfety requirements, supervision of the urner y self-checking flme supervision system seems dvisle - The control sequence nd the connection circuitry of the LOK6 / LGK6 urner controls re identicl to those of the LAL... nd LFL... respectively (with the exception of type LFL.48), so tht existing comustion plnts cn lso e equipped with self-checking urner controls, provided very good flme detector current vlues re mesured in the plnt supervised so fr y the LFL..., nd provided the following types of flme detectors re either instlled or cn susequently e fitted: Specific fetures when using LOK6... Specific fetures when using LGK Selenium photocell detector RAR... - Flme detector QRA53... / QRA Ioniztion proe - Flme detector QRA53... / QRA55... together with ioniztion proe, e.g. in the cse of urners with pilot urner (lso refer to Dt Sheet 77) Wrning notes To void injury to persons, dmge to property or the environment, the following wrning notes should e oserved! Do not open, interfere with or modify the unit! Before performing ny wiring chnges in the connection re of the LOK6 / LGK6, completely isolte the urner control from the mins supply (ll-polr disconnection) Ensure protection ginst electric shock hzrd y providing dequte protection for the urner control s terminls rior to commissioning nd fter chnging fuses, check wiring nd ll sfety functions Fll or shock cn dversely ffect the sfety functions. Such units my not e put into opertion, even if they do not exhiit ny dmge The flme detector current mesuring unit KF883 is not suited for continuous opertion Do not press the lockout reset utton on the unit or the remote reset utton (input ) for more thn 0 seconds, since this would dmge the lockout rely inside the unit /9

ounting notes Ensure tht the relevnt ntionl sfety regultions re complied with Upgrding existing plnt When chnging plnts to LOK6... or LGK6..., the existing LAL... or LFL... se must e secured y cylinder-shped grooved pin, thus ensuring tht only n LOK6... or LGK6... type urner control cn e fitted. rt numer of grooved pin: Loction of grooved pin: Between terminls 0 nd of the LAL... se, nd etween terminls 4 nd 5 of the LFL... se. Strt repetition in the event of loss of flme By removing link «B» on the underside of the unit, the LOK6... cn e switched to strt repetition in the event of loss of flme during opertion. In tht cse, the wire link must e cut off completely. But it must e checked whether this is in complince with ntionl stndrds nd regultions. Instlltion notes Instlltion work must e crried out y qulified stff eutrl conductors my not e interchnged Electricl connection of ioniztion proe nd flme detector It is importnt to chieve prcticlly disturnce- nd loss-free signl trnsmission: ever run the detector cle together with other cles Line cpcitnce reduces the mgnitude of the flme signl Use seprte cle Oserve the permissile detector cle lengths (refer to «Technicl dt») It is not permitted to connect flme detectors QRA53... / QRA55... in prllel When using the QRA53... / QRA55..., erthing of terminl is mndtory The ioniztion proe is not protected ginst electric shock hzrd Locte the ignition electrode nd ioniztion proe such tht the ignition sprk cnnot rc over to the ioniztion proe (risk of electricl overlods) Alwys run the ignition cles seprtely while oserving the gretest possile distnce to the unit nd to other cles Supervision with ioniztion proe nd flme detector QRA... is possile ut, for sfety resons, oth my not e ctive t the sme time, with the exception of the second sfety time «t9». 8 Function rinciple of selfsupervision rerequisites for urner strtup In contrst to conventionl mplifiers, the signl delivered y the flme detector is hndled dynmiclly nd not stticlly. The flme detector signl is converted to sequence of control pulses nd then fed to the flme rely circuit. The ltter is designed such tht the flme rely cn only e energized y flme signl of the descried form. If the pulses chnge due to fulty detector or fulty detector cles, the rely will e deenergized nd the urner control triggers the required sfety ctions. In the cse of UV supervision, it must lso e ensured tht self-ignition of the UV tue (e.g. due to geing) does not simulte flme signl. For tht reson, the incident rdition t the UV cell is periodiclly interrupted y shutter. In ddition to the self-checking fcility, the flme signl circuit is sujected to functionl test during the prepurge time. If it does not operte correctly, the strtup sequence will e orted or lockout initited. Furthermore, if mins voltge drops to level where the sfe opertion of the urner control is no longer ensured, the urner will utomticlly shut down. When mins voltge returns to the norml level, the urner control repets the strtup sequence. If the detector signls re only slightly ove the minimum levels, such mins voltge fluctutions cn lso give rise to urner lockout however. - The urner control is reset nd in the strt position (terminls nd must e under voltge) - The ir dmper is closed. End switch «z» for the fully closed position must feed voltge from terminl to terminl 8 - All control contcts etween terminls nd 5 (limit thermostt, control thermostt, etc.) must e closed A t Strt When «R» closes, the urner control s sequence switch strts running. At the sme time, the fn motor connected to terminl 6 (only prepurging) receives voltge nd, on completion of «t7», the fn motor or flue gs fn t terminl 7 (pre- nd postpurging) lso receives voltge. On completion of «t6», the control commnd to open the ir dmper is given vi terminl 9. During the running time of the motor, the sequence switch does not operte, s terminl 8, vi which the motor of the sequence switch first receives voltge, is not under voltge during tht period of time. The sequence switch strts gin nd progrms only fter the ir dmper is fully open nd end switch hs chnged over to feed voltge to terminl 8. repurge time with ir dmper fully open (nominl mount of comustion ir) Shortly fter the strt of the prepurge time, ir pressure monitor «L» must chnge over, thus interrupting the current pth etween terminls 4 nd 3. Otherwise, the urner control would go to lockout (strt of ir pressure check). At the sme time, terminl 4 must e under voltge since this current pth is used to power the ignition trnsformer nd the fuel vlves. t3 With the LOK6, n ignition trnsformer connected to terminl 5 is therefore switched on t this point in time (long preignition). If there is no «L», the ignition trnsformer receives voltge lredy with the strt commnd. On completion of the prepurge time, the urner control vi terminl 0 runs the ir dmper into the lowfire position, which is determined y the chngeover point of uxiliry switch «m». During the positioning time, the sequence switch stops gin until terminl 8 receives voltge from «m». t5 Intervl On completion of «t5», terminl 0 receives voltge. At the sme time, control outputs 9 to nd input 8 re glvniclly seprted from the unit s control section, so tht the ltter is protected ginst reverse voltges from the lod control circuit. The strtup sequence of the urner control ends with the relese of lod controller «LR» t terminl 0. The sequence switch switches itself utomticlly off, depending on the time vrint used, either immeditely or fter some so-clled «idle steps», tht is, without chnging the contct positions. 8/9

Expnding flme urners with LOK6... or LGK6... t3 Short preignition time; followed y fuel relesed vi terminl 8. TSA Sfety time (prt lod) On completion of the sfety time ltest, flme signl must e present t the input of the flme signl mplifier, or else the urner control will initite lockout. Only with LOK6...: t3n ostignition time (provided the ignition trnsformer is connected to terminl 5). t4 Intervl until the fuel vlve is relesed vi terminl 9. Interrupted pilot urner with LGK6... t3 / t3 (Burners using pilot urner) Short preignition time; followed y relese of fuel for the pilot urner vi terminl 7. TSA / TSA t4 / t4 t9 B B-C C First sfety time (ignition lod) On completion of the sfety time ltest, flme signl must e present t the input of the flme signl mplifier, or else the urner control will initite lockout. Intervl until the fuel vlve t terminl 9 is relesed (strt lod of the min urner). Times «TSA», «t3» nd «t4» re only progrmmed y urner controls type LGK nd LGK Second sfety time On completion of the sfety time, the min urner must hve een ignited y the pilot urner, since the pilot gs vlve is closed on completion of «t9». Operting position of the urner Burner opertion (genertion of het) During urner opertion, the lod controller drives the ir dmper to the nominl lod or low-fire position, depending on het demnd. Here, the nominl lod is relesed y uxiliry switch «v» in the ir dmper ctutor. Controlled shutdown y «R» In the cse of controlled shutdown, the fuel vlves re immeditely closed nd, t the sme time, the sequence switch strts gin to progrm the postpurge time. t6 ostpurge time (postpurging with fn connected to terminl 7). Shortly fter the strt of the postpurge time, voltge t terminl 0 is reinstted, so tht the ir dmper is driven into the «I» position. The full closing of the ir dmper strts only shortly efore the completion of the postpurge time, initited y the control signl on terminl, which lso remins under voltge during the following urner off period. D-A End of control sequence (= strt position) When, on completion of «t6», the sequence switch hs reset the control contcts to their strt positions, therey switching itself off, the detector nd flme simultion test is strted gin. However, during the urner off period, lockout cn occur only if the fulty flme signl lsts few seconds. Hence, short ignition pulses of the UV detector cused y cosmic rdition do not initite lockout. 9/9

Control sequence in the event of fult In cse of ny disturnce, the supply of fuel is immeditely interrupted. At the sme time, the sequence switch stops nd thus the lockout indictor lso. The symol ppering ove the reding mrk indictes the kind of fult: o strt, ecuse one of the contcts is not closed (lso refer to «rerequisites for urner strtup») or lockout during or fter completion of the control sequence due to extrneous light (e.g. flme not extinguished, leking fuel vlves, fulty flme supervision circuit, or similr). Aortion of strtup sequence, ecuse end switch hs not fed the OE signl to terminl 8. Terminls 6, 7 nd 4 nd, in cse LOK6... is used, terminl 5, lso remin under voltge until the fult is corrected. Lockout, ecuse the ir pressure signl hs not een received t the strt of the ir pressure check. Lockout due to fult in the flme supervision circuit. Aortion of strtup sequence, ecuse uxiliry switch «m» hs not delivered the positioning signl for the low-fire position to terminl 8. Terminls 6, 7 nd 4 nd, in cse LOK6... is used, terminl 5, lso remin under voltge until the fult is corrected. Lockout, ecuse no flme signl hs een received on completion of the (first) sfety time. Only with LGK6...: Lockout, ecuse no flme signl hs een received on completion of the second sfety time (flme signl of the min flme with interrupted pilot urners). I Lockout, ecuse the flme signl hs een lost during urner opertion or ir pressure filure hs occurred. Only with LOK6...: If wire link «B» hs een cut off nd the flme is lost during urner opertion, the urner control progrms repetition of the strtup sequence with the full progrm. 0/9
