1 Kurzweil 3000 Versin 12 Web License Web Licensing: Instructinal Prcess Web Licensing (V12 with VPORT): Teachers can nw: Create Kurzweil 3000 Assignments and save t a central lcatin Publish and Assign wrk t students and mnitr prgress View reprts f individual and whle class usage and perfrmance via the VPORT Online Data Management System Anytime, anywhere access t a Kurzweil 3000 license via the web, frm any cmputer with Internet access and Kurzweil 3000 Web License client installed. YES! That means that Students and Teachers can have access t Kurzweil 3000 at HOME! Persnal preferences ram with the user. This is NOT a web applicatin. It is a web license. Kurzweil 3000 Web License Client CD is installed n each cmputer. Access is limited t number f licenses wned. Files can nw be saved t and pened frm the Web Universal Library a shared, secure file repsitry hsted by Kurzweil Educatinal Systems. Files wn t take up space n yur cmputers! Files can be easily shared acrss users, schls, districts, etc. Assignments & Reprting Teachers can nw create and assign wrk t students frm within Kurzweil Students can nw easily cmplete and turn in their assignments Teachers and Administratrs can view reprts n student perfrmance Scres n assignments Student and teacher usage data MORE reprts will rutinely becme available nline via VPORT

2 Web Licensing: Reprting Licenses are managed via the VPORT Online Data Management System. T use Kurzweil 3000, yu must have a VPORT registratin. A Unique User Lgin is required fr every user via registratin with VPORT. An Accunt Set-Up frm must be cmpleted befre yur Kurzweil 3000 V12 Web License rder is prcessed. Yur administratr will receive a Welcme Package via frm ur Custmer Service Department with instructins. Yur District Administratr r Principal must prvide yu (the teacher) with yur unique user name and passwrd. The District Administratr r Principal als sets up all classes. As a teacher yu can set up the students in yur class(es) by selecting frm existing students in the database r creating new nes. VPORT User Rle privilege Hierarchy Descriptins: District Administratr privilege is needed t set up schls, principals, campus cach, classes, teachers, students Principal privilege is needed set up teachers, Campus Cach, classes, and students Teacher privilege is needed t set up students. (Teachers MUST have at least ne class in rder t create students, assign wrk t students in that class and view reprts.) Student privilege nly has access t their wn infrmatin. Campus Cach can set up students and classes and access multiple classes (perfect fr AT specialists, inclusin facilitatrs, resurce rm educatrs, etc.) NOTE: Principals and Administratrs will nt see the assignment icn when lgged in t Kurzweil That is available in Teacher and Student view nly.

3 Onging use f the VPORT Assignment, Reprting and File Strage services will require a yearly maintenance fee. Yu can still use Kurzweil 3000 withut these services. (Ask yur Sales Representative fr mre details.) 4 Hands-On Activity: Kurzweil 3000 V12 Web License with VPORT Teacher Activity: Setting up Students and Creating Assignments 1. Lgin-in as a Teacher: With V12 Weblicense, yu shuld ntice the assignment icn at the tp left f yur screen. Yu will need t use yur VPORT User Name and Passwrd. Ntice that yu can select the License Type fr Kurzweil 3000 Clr Prfessinal Black & White Prfessinal LearnStatin NOTE: Yu can als lgin t VPORT directly frm the VPORT website: 2. Set up a Student(s) in yur class: 1. G t Assignment pull-dwn menu and select Class Management 2. Select a class (NOTE: Only the District Administratr, Principal r Campus Cach has the privilege level t set up classes.) 3. VPORT will autmatically pen 4. Click n the Add Students icn t Add students t yur class 5. Add a NEW student t VPORT 6. Type in Last Name, User Name, ID, etc. (Repeat t add additinal students.) 7. Always be sure t save changes NOTE: If yur students are already registered in VPORT, yu can select and find students by typing in the first few letters f their first r last name:

5 8. Click Return t Rster t view student(s) Nte the User Name and Passwrd Created: 3. Create an Assignment 1. Open a.kes file ( Time Travel.kes frm yur sample dcuments flder OR ne f yur wn.kes files frm any lcatin.) NOTE: Multiple Chice, True False and Matching Bubble Nte questins are scrable with VPORT. Questins must have a SINGLE answer t be scrable. 2. Embed three (r mre) Bubble Nte Questins If yu have nt added the Bubble nte icn t yur tlbar, yu can access frm: Tls->Nte->Add >Add Bubble Nte OR Select Pssible Questin Optins r types : a. Multiple Chice b. True/False c. Matching Multiple Chice: Fr each questin: 1. Select Questin Optin type (Use the red up/dwn arrws t add r subtract pssible answers) 2. In the spaces prvided, type: Title(Optinal) Questin Pssible Answers 3. Indicate the crrect answer(s) t the Questin(s). NOTE: When published t the Web Universal Library, the answers will be remved frm the student s view. 4. Click OK True/False:

6 Matching: 4. SAVE the dcument t the Web Universal Library. File->Save t Library Ntice that yu can create flders within yur library t better rganize yur files. Save t YOUR flder. If yu save t the Public flder, thers will see the file. The public flder is a gd place t save files that yu wuld like thers t access. Students can NOT access the files in ther student flders. Teachers CAN access files in student flders. Once saved t the Library, this dcument will be available t the User frm WHEREVER the user lgs in. The file is saved in the clud. 5. Publish Assignment t Web Universal Library 1. File ->Publish Files MUST be Published in rder t later assign them t a student. Files can nt be mdified nce published. Yu can publish any Kurzweil 3000 supprted dcument types. 2. Fllw prmpts t review the first questin and the next several questins. When dne click OK

7 3. Prvide Infrmatin abut the published Dcument Title Descriptin Tags (Great fr searching fr dcuments!) 4. Click OK. Yu will autmatically be cnnected t the published flder f the Web Universal Library. Create new flder if needed r brwse t desired flder and click save. 6. Assign the Assignment t a student(s) 1. Click Assignment Menu -> New Assignment (NOTE: My Assignment List will allw yu t view ALL Current, Past and Future assignments.) New Assignment Dialg Bx: 2. The New Assignment Dialg bx will pen. Use this dialg bx t enter the fllwing: 1. Title 2. Descriptin 3. Tags (Optinal) 4. Respnse Type, Select: Answers when assigning a Scrable assignment

8 5. Add Dcument t select file(s) frm the Published flder. NOTE: Published dcuments d nt have t be scrable. Yu can als publish written respnse dcuments, typical test dcuments with fill in the blank, a dcument t just read, a clumn nte assignment, etc. Yu will be able t assign and mnitr but these dcuments will nt be scred. Can yu think f dcuments yu might like t assign t yur students? 6. Click Add Student t assign t a student in yur class. Select Student(s) Select Assignment Begin and End Dates 7.
