2 Hw t Access HeartCde Curses First-Time Certificatin New emplyees needing HeartCde BLS have nly 30 days t present a valid card t the AHA crdinatr r cmplete the certificatin. Cntact the AHA crdinatr, The crdinatr will register yu fr the apprpriate prgram (BLS, PALS, ACLS) in CHEX. Renewal Infrmatin Certificatins are available 60 days prir t expiratin. Yu will receive an ntificatin 60 days prir t yur expiratin date. 1. Fllwing the ntificatin, lg int CHEX. 2. Open the Prgram frm yur CHEX T-D-List. 3. Review the Descriptin and Prgram Details. Fr further help, launch the Prgram Instructins. Yu must cmplete Part I (the selfdirected nline curse) befre yu can attend Part 2 (the skills check-ff). 6 Tips fr Cmpleting Part 1 the nline curse Tip: D NOT skip any prtin f the e-learning prgram n matter hw bring yu think it is r will be!! Tip: At the scenari intrductin, lk fr AHA text bks and vide materials. Open these, minimize, and leave them in the taskbar. Yu can pause the scenari anytime and g t the reference material in the taskbar. Tip: Use the pause buttn n the timer frequently t stp and think! Open up the n-line text r vides and review. Then g back t the scenari by selecting the play buttn. Play Pause Tip: When yu are wrking n a scenari yu can mve the interventin bxes that pp up arund n the screen s yu can see better! 9 Is There a Fee fr HeartCde Certificatins? Frequently Asked Questins If yu cmplete Part 1 within the required timeline, Ck Children s emplyees will NOT pay a fee. Once yu have accessed Part 1 yu are cmmitted t cmpletin via HeartCde. Part 2 MUST be cmpleted n mre than 60 days after cmpleting Part 1. If yu d nt cmplete Part 2 within that time perid, yu will pay a FEE and yu will have t cmplete Part 1 again! Fees: BLS = $45.00, PALS = $145.00, ACLS = $ IMPORTANT: D nt let yur certificatin expire. D nt use SSO (Single Sign-On) cmputers, COWS, r MACs. The cmputer lab in pavilin basement is available several times during each mnth. Wh Needs HeartCde Certificatins? Depending n yur jb cde, yu may be required t have Basic Life Supprt (BLS). See MC 175 BLS. Yu may als be required t have Advanced Certificatin such as PALS, ACLS, r thers specific t yur wrk area per PS 225 Advanced Life Supprt Certificatins. Will I receive a reminder when my certificatin is abut t expire? At 90 days prir t yur certificatin expiratin, yu will receive a ntificatin. At 60 days prir t yur certificatin expiratin, yu will receive an ntificatin that yu can begin wrk n yur prgram. Please g t CHEX, and register fr the Skills Check-Off and begin wrk n Part 1. At 30 days prir t yur certificatin expiratin yu will receive a reminder t cmplete HeartCde Parts 1 and 2. What if I allw my certificatin t expire? Refer t PS 225 Advanced Life Supprt Certificatins r MC 175 BLS. The HeartCde prgram will disappear frm yur T-D List. If yu wuld like t cmplete yur certificatin via HeartCde please cntact yur directr wh will cntact Art DeFrde with a request t put it n yur T-D-List again.
