Health and Enterprise Course Leader in Masters Business Management - Fixed Term Ref: H&E 7412 Salary: 25,078-33,613 per annum This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and motivated individual who has a vision for the development and future direction of Business courses. The successful candidate will work within the Higher Education department of the School and have a related degree level academic/vocational qualification. This post involves preparation, teaching and assessing on Higher Education Business Management programmes, including Research Methods modules, across the Masters courses offered within the school. You will contribute to the management of the programme, the design and development of new modules and new delivery modes. You will also contribute to and manage module quality in content, delivery and assessment. In addition you will engage in module leadership and broader academic management. Your hours of work will be flexible and will include evenings according to student demand. You will be required to work with the course team, attend course team meetings and monitor punctuality, attendance, retention, achievement and success and identify areas of poor performance and implement actions to improve. You will also be expected to provide appropriate learner support and liaise with external professional bodies where appropriate. 2 Job Description Job Title: Reports to: Grade: Pension: Teaching Role Category: Course Leader HE Business Section Manager Lecturer LGPS Full Summary of key generic responsibilities undertaken by this role: 1. To deliver high quality teaching and learning (including tutorials) and undertake the full range of associated administration, quality, preparation and assessment processes. 2. To advise, guide and support learners to identify and achieve their learning aims. 3. To write learner subject reports which clearly articulate how improvement can be made and sustained. 4. To actively participate in the learner recruitment and selection process. 5. To fully comply with college processes 6. To use, access and update MIS data, including registers 7. To contribute to business planning and performance monitoring Course Leader specific: 1 to 7, plus: 8. To effectively manage a series of courses ensuring high levels of learner satisfaction, retention and achievement and progression (employment or further/higher study) 9. To review and undertake curriculum development in terms of quality, such as attendance, retention, achievement and progression, and modes of learning, such as unitisation and e-learning. 10. Through use of college systems and processes, to lead on quality assurance and improvement in: teaching and learning; assuring schemes of work; the assessment process, including internal verification; self-assessment report documentation; learner attendance, retention, achievement, progression both to employment and further/higher study 11. To lead the assessment process for the courses and liaising, as appropriate, with internal and external verifiers, moderators and other relevant external bodies. 12. To timetable at course/curriculum team level including organising learner groups and sub groups, staffing and accommodation, as appropriate. 13. To secure and contribute to a wide range of enrichment activities including visits, placements, visiting speakers and other activities. 14. To effectively track and document learners progress including individual learning plans 15. To maintain course files, course handbook and other course documentation. 16. To manage and participate in the learner recruitment and selection process. 17. To organise, chair and keep records of course meetings 18. To liaise with external agencies/organisations, with parents/guardians and others as appropriate to the learner group.
3 19. To undertake the requirements associated with the recognition service 20. To collate and write learner reports and references. 21. To oversee and contribute to learner enrolment and registration including the production and maintenance of course information sheets 22. To identify and order resources for the planning and delivery of the teaching and learning experience. 23. To liaise with the appropriate manager over staff absences, inducting new staff, learner disciplinary matters and complaints.
