1 JOB DESCRIPTION ASC05 JOB TITLE: LECTURER PSYCHOLOGY RESPONSIBLE TO: HEAD OF SECTION Section/Service: A Level Reports to: Head of Section Salary: Academic Harmonised Scale Scope and responsibilities: As a professional Lecturer you will be required to undertake formal scheduled teaching duties as follows: teaching, tutorials, and student assessment. The post will include teaching Psychology across a range of programmes including Foundation Degree, Access to Higher Education and A Level. Key Tasks Your duties will include, but will not be limited to: 1. Managing Teaching and Learning 1.1 Prepare and deliver formal scheduled teaching duties including teaching, tutorials, and learner assessment. 1.2 Deliver and assess key and basic skills. 1.3 Manage, plan, and review learning programmes and the curriculum, including the development of resources and interpretation of statistics. 1.4 Promote equal opportunities at all times. 2. Quality 2.1 Participate in all aspects of Quality Assurance team meetings and strategic planning as appropriate.
2 2.2 Contribute to the review of programme data and implementation of improvement strategies as part of an ongoing self-assessment process. 2.3 Ensure compliance with awarding body regulations and standards. 2.4 Ensure quality assurance documentation, procedures and processes are adhered to. 3. Assessment 3.1 Conduct individual learner reviews and produce individual learning plans. 3.2 Assess learner s work, and act as verifier / moderator as appropriate. 3.3 Prepare learner reports and attend parents / employers events as required. 3.4 The marking of students work including the marking of examinations. 4. Pastoral and Welfare 4.1 Provide education guidance and counselling, including student discipline in accordance with College policy. 4.2 Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with health and safety rules and policies. 4.3 Ensure that additional leaner support needs are addressed. 4.4 Prepare learner reports and attend parents / employer events as required. 5. Personal Development 5.1 Undertake research and other forms of scholarly activity ensuring that you maintain a good knowledge of current industrial practice. 5.2 Demonstrate a commitment to your own personal and professional development. 5.3 Establish, maintain and develop good working relationships with colleagues. 5.4 Participate as required in the College Appraisal System. 5.5 Establish "industrial links", as appropriate or when required, to develop understanding and knowledge of subject related industrial and professional activities. 5.6 Develop and maintain good working relationship with external and

Administration / Marketing 6.1 Participate in the learner admissions process, providing initial guidance and interview to ensure learners are placed on appropriate courses. 6.2 Attend course meetings as required. 6.3 Administration including registers, enrolment, pursuing student absence and any other student related administration as deemed appropriate. 6.4 Manage and supervise learner visit programmes in accordance with college policy. 6.5 Undertake marketing activities and act as an ambassador of South Devon College at all times. Other Duties The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence and would not of themselves justify the re-evaluation of a post. In case, however, where a permanent and substantial change in the duties and responsibilities of the post occurs, then the post would be eligible for reevaluation.
