2 About this Course: This qualification covers workers who undertake a range of functions requiring application of knowledge and skills to achieve results in line with the organisation/business s goals and strategic direction. These workers manage the operations and promotion of professional practices in the health sector. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding to eligible individuals. Entry Requirement: Completion of HLTIN301C Comply with Infection Control Policies & Procedures. This unit is a pre-requisite of the HLTIN403C Implement and Monitor Infection Control Policy and Procedures delivered in this Diploma. Students will be required to have successfully completed the pre-requisite unit. SEHPA offer this unit for individual enrolment. In addition to this unit, students should have an intermediate level of computer skills particularly in the use of , internet, Microsoft word, excel and power point. Students should have at least 3-5 years in a Health Care clinic environment with ideally some experience in a Senior Reception, Team Leader or Supervisor role. This qualification requires work to be completed to a quality that is consistent with a professional operating at management level, and accountability for ensuring all work is undertaken as required and within due dates. Course Structure Attainment of this qualification requires the successful completion of 16 units of competency: 10 core units 6 elective units An overview of each unit can be found on the following pages. Students progressing from Certificate III or IV in Health Administration qualifications should speak with the SEHPA Training Manager to determine any credit transfers. Duration: This course has a nominal duration of 15 months. The program is a combination of classroom, self-directed and workplace based learning. 3 the commencement of training. Units requiring a workplace visit will be identified and your trainer will arrange a mutually convenient date with you for these assessments. Delivery and Assessment: Delivery and assessment will occur in the classroom, be self-directed and workplace based to ensure application of the skills and knowledge you learn. 4 Units of Competency HLT52012 Diploma of Practice Management Unit HLTHIR505D Provide leadership in promoting effective work practices in health This unit covers the skills required to provide leadership in establishing ethical and high quality work practices, to others working within the health industry. Leadership can be provided and/or modelled to clinic staff or allied professionals HLTWHS300A Contribute to WHS processes This unit specifies the workplace performance required by a worker to contribute to work health and safety (WHS) processes where there is responsibility for own work outputs and possibly limited responsibility for the work output of others. HLTWHS501A Manage workplace WHS processes This unit specifies the workplace performance required by an individual responsible for ongoing management of work health and safety (WHS) within an area of management responsibility where the WHS management processes have been set up by other persons, either internal or external to the organisation. HLTIN403C Implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures Pre-requisite unit HLTIN301C delivered in Cert III, packaging rules do not allow this to be delivered as an elective in this qualification, therefore students who have not completed the Cert III, must complete this unit in addition to listed units. This unit is concerned with infection control responsibilities of employees with supervisory accountability to implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures in a specific work unit or team within an organisation. HLTHIR506C Implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements relevant in the work area. HLTPM501B Manage in a health care business This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to manage the business requirements of a practice within the health care environment. 5 HLTPM502B Manage health billing and accounting system This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to manage a billing and accounting system in a health practice, with consideration of client accessibility, practice viability and regulatory and legislative requirements BSBMED301B Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately knowledge required to understand and respond to instructions; to carry out routine tasks and communicate with a range of internal/external clients in a medical environment; and to use appropriate advanced medical terminology. BSBRSK501B Manage risk knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area. BSBMGT502B Manage people performance knowledge required to assist in the effective implementation of a performance management system and to facilitate employee performance HLTHIR404D Work effectively with aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people This unit describes the communication and work practice skills and knowledge required to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the health industry context It deals specifically with cross-cultural awareness and issues involving working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, organisations and communities. BSBAUD503B Lead a quality audit knowledge required to lead an audit team as they undertake a quality audit. It covers conducting entry and exit meetings; identifying and gathering relevant information; managing audit team resources; and providing feedback to audit team members on their performance. The types of quality audit that may be covered by this unit include an external or internal systems audit or process or product/service audit HLTHIR403C Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers This unit deals with the cultural awareness required for effective communication and cooperation with persons of diverse cultures.
