11 STRUCTURING PROJECTS PETROCHEMICAL The Italian group Mossi & Ghisolfi (M & G) is the pioneer in the PET resin plant. Petroquímica Suape will have three plants: one for production of terephthalic acid (PTA), the second for producing polymers and other polyester filaments (POY) and the third resin for manufacturing packaging (PET). Together, they will be able to generate about 1.5 million tons / year. Investment: U.S. $ 2.2 billion. 11
12 STRUCTURING PROJECTS MARITIME AND OFFSHORE CLUSTERS The Atlântico Sul shipyard was settled in 2007 at Suape. Investment: U.S. $ 1.3 billion. This year two shipyards started its construction works: Promar, STX (gas tankers) and CMO (support vessels).
