Much of this growth is based on the country's largest port activity - the state is the main gateway to the Brazilian foreign trade. Also outstanding in the extraction of iron ore in steel production, pulp production in most of the country, the largest industry of ornamental rocks in the world, the exploitation of oil and natural gas, as well as diversified agriculture, especially the planting of coffee. The Espírito Santo is in a phase of significant growth. Due to business expansion of agriculture, tourism and - especially - the discovery of huge deposits of oil and gas. Recently announced were three new wells in the region. The state was close to 15% in the share of domestic oil production and is expected to reach 500,000 barrels per day by To do this, Petrobrás is investing US$14.5 billion this year alone. The State is already today the second largest oil producer in the country and the first natural gas. It will grow more with the start of operations of the new headquarters of Petrobrás and all service companies around the exploitation of oil and gas.
