2 The Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup Day at Addington Raceway is one of the truly great sporting and social events on the New Zealand calendar. It is Canterbury s most iconic event and there is no other day in New Zealand Racing where crowds of such magnitude gather in a carnival and party type atmosphere to celebrate New Zealand s premium racing. Cup Day has always been a day of celebration, where Canterbury comes to life and cheers on the best racehorses from New Zealand and Australia to see just which horse is the toughest and most resilient in the greatest two mile harness race anywhere in the world.
