1 Position Description Central Gippsland Health Service Service: Engineering Services Position Title: Carpenter Classification level: Maintenance The Service: Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) is a subregional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. We serve an immediate population of approximately 42,000 in Central Gippsland, and reach a wider community in East Gippsland and parts of South Gippsland in terms of more specialised services such as perinatal services, critical care and surgery. CGHS is unusual being both a sub-regional and an integrated health service, providing a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary services, including a comprehensive range of HACC services, through to adult intensive, coronary care and level 2 neonatal care. Acute services include a full time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, operating theatres, day procedure unit, and oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and surgical services and subacute services including rehabilitation. Reports to: Engineering Services Supervisor The structure: Engineering Trade Staff (Carpenter) General Manager Support Service Engineering Services Supervisor Engineering Non- Trade Staff The health service has acute campuses at Sale, Maffra and Heyfield; community and home support services are provided throughout the Shire of Wellington (with the exception of Yarram and District) with centers in Maffra, Sale, Heyfield, Rosedale and Loch Sport. Residential aged care services are provided at Sale, Maffra and Heyfield. The Engineering Services Department provides all essential, preventative and corrective maintenance across all sites, as well as managing and assisting with multi-disciplinary project works. Engineering Services support is also provided to private residential aged care facilities in Maffra(Stretton Park Hostel) and Heyfield (Heyfield Hospital Inc. and Laurina Lodge). Page 1 of 6

2 Decision making / delegation This position is at operational level and will have input into planning and decision making processes as part of the service team. The position reports to the engineering services supervisor who holds a delegated authority to the level of Department Head/Manager in accordance with CGHS Instrument of Delegation. The work context: The Engineering Services Carpenter works as a part of a small multi-disciplinary team of trade and nontrade staff. The position holder is required to maintain effective relationships within the Engineering Services Department and across CGHS services, departments and campuses and also external customers across multiple environments. The position holder will: Perform corrective and preventative maintenance as issued via work orders or verbally when rectification is time critical. Assist the Engineering Services Supervisor to compile and implement maintenance schedules within scope of trade. The purpose of the position: Provide effective and efficient carpentry support across all Central Gippsland Health Service sites. The key responsibilities of the role: Responsibilities include: Specific Responsibilities Provide regular carpentry feedback to the Engineering Services Supervisor relating to: o Essential services maintenance compliance; o Preventative maintenance progress; o Corrective maintenance task backlog; Accept and respond to work orders issued emanating from repair maintenance requests submitted by areas/units in a timely manner. Completion of works also includes providing data for entry into BEIMS for time taken and action taken; Maintain engineering workshops in a clean and tidy state; Order and receive goods using the FMIS iproc System; Participation in Engineering Services team meetings where comment relative to departmental issues and functions is encouraged; Perform other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Engineering Services Supervisor consistent with your capability and role delineation; Maintain correct function of all fire and smoke doors Generic Responsibilities Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate integrated person-centred care leading to timely and effective client discharge. Qualifications: Current Victorian manual driver s license.
