3 Creating the future at WWF-Australia WWF-Australia is committed to building the competencies of our staff to equip them to meet challenges of today and into the future. Together with the career development needs identified in the regular Performance and Career Development (P&CD) process, this Guide to Training and Development details a range of courses that empower staff to: build competencies; meet statutory obligations; enhance career potential; develop overall business skills; take on greater responsibility; challenge their personal and professional development; move into more senior roles. WWF-International e-learning Campus The People Development Team at WWF-International assist WWF staff around the world with their development plans and their skill building efforts by providing carbon-free and cost-free virtual learning solutions through the e-learning Campus The e-learning Campus contains an extensive 150-course catalogue, providing a wide range of online self-study learning courses covering areas such as personal skills, project management, marketing and communications, finance, team management and leadership. These courses are provided by the following recognised leaders in training: MindLeaders offer short courses (1-2 hours), self-study and self-paced. Topics and short videos include: effective communication, presentation skills, IT skills. These courses are targeted at non-supervisory staff, mid-level managers and project/team leaders. Harvard Business School Publishing. Harvard Series 10 are short courses (1-2 hours) self-study and self-paced. They include interactive video clips and provide practical advice, downloadable tools and time saving tips. Topics include: Leading Teams, Setting Goals, Finance, Delegating, Decision making, and Writing skills. These courses are targeted at Managers and Leaders. ecornell offer intensive, two-week courses and are facilitated by Cornell faculty experts. These are engaging and interactive courses. Topics include: Strategy, Leadership, Aligning HR strategy with organizational strategy and Management Essentials. These courses are targeted at (HR) Professionals, Managers and Leaders. A selection of courses from the 150 on offer are listed within this Handbook highlighted with the and we encourage you to take some time to browse the full catalogue available on the e-learning Campus. You may register for up to three courses at any time and allow 48 hours processing time for each course registration request. Page 3

15 WWF-Standards & Project Management WWF Standards Project & Program Cycle Target Audience: All Conservation Staff Learning Goals: To become familiar with the WWF Standards for Conservation Project and Program Management in order to apply it to your own projects Training Provider: Science and Policy Department : The WWF Standards are an updated and strengthened set of guidelines, laid out by steps in the project management cycle. The Standards include an updated cycle that encourages the use of an adaptive management process - the integration of project and program design, management, and monitoring to systematically test assumptions, adapt, and learn. This process emphasizes systematic monitoring and learning (as opposed to trial and error) to help project teams learn what conservation actions are working or not working and how to improve them. The cycle and the accompanying Standards are designed to apply to smaller scale projects and broad scale programs, as well as to sitedriven and thematic projects or programs.
