2 Purpose To provide a forum for clinical researchers to share and discuss the impact of research on clinical practice and patient outcomes. Target audience This conference has been developed for staff nurses, advanced practice nurses, educators, managers, administrators, and students involved or interested in enhancing clinical practice or patient outcomes through research. Keynote speaker Mary Blegen is member of the Advisory Panel on Improving Healthcare Systems for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). She is also an Adjunct Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Colorado at Denver, Professor Emerita in the Department of Community Health Systems at the University of California, San Francisco, and a Fellow at the American Academy of Nursing. She has served as the Director of the Center for Patient Safety in the School of Nursing, UCSF, and as a Senior Scholar for the Interdisciplinary Fellow in the Quality Scholars program in the VA Health System. Dr. Blegen s research program focuses on the evaluation of patient outcomes in relation to nurse staffing, working conditions, safety climate, and inter-disciplinary teamwork. Her research includes: Interdisciplinary safety culture, and patient experiences of care; Relationships between nurse staffing and quality of care in academic hospitals, community hospitals; and nursing homes; and hospital system load effects on adverse incidents. Dr. Blegen has published extensively and presented nationally. Continuing education This activity has been submitted to WNA CEAP for approval to award contact hours. Wisconsin Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation.
