Many parents choose a PNP as their child s health care provider knowing they will receive individualized quality health care. PNPs may practice in a variety of settings that include but are not limited to primary care settings, such as pediatric offices or clinics, as well as acute care settings, such as hospitals, surgical centers or speciality clinics. - What is a PNP? National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners October 3, 2011 You are ready, and so are we! Apply online today!
6 Transform Healthcare, Transform Lives as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner! We had the equipment and tools we needed to be successful, not to just get by. But the mind set instructors gave us was to be aware that in nursing you have to think outside of the box. The USF PNP program prepared me to be successful in an environment where there are many disadvantages and to turn them into opportunities to make the quality of life in a small community better. In rural medicine you have to figure out how to get things done and still provide the best care. The USF College of Nursing is first-rate! Neil Melvin, MSN, ARNP Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Horizon Pediatrics, Live Oak, FL I began my career as a maternal child staff nurse working in the high risk obstetrics unit at St. Joseph s Women s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Six years later, I received my master s degree with a focus in pediatrics from the USF College of Nursing. I was able to apply what I learned to implement the Mothers Own Milk program on the importance of breast feeding at St. Joseph s funded by the March of Dimes. It was a transformation process and, I realized I could be a leader - You don t have to be in a position of authority to be a leader. Jessica Gordon, MS, ARNP, CPNP-PC, CLC Lactation Coordinator St. Joseph s Women s Hospital, Tampa, FL I am proud to have coordinated the first Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Boot Camp at the USF Nursing Virtual Simulation Center, with hands-on pediatric and adolescent clinical assessment skills to familiarize students with the components of infant, pediatric, and adolescent physical exams. The boot camp provides nurse practitioner students with hands-on skills, comfort and confidence, and also provides a forum where they can ask faculty questions and receive feedback in a nonthreatening and non-pressure atmosphere. This is one of many out-of-the-box initiatives that make USF Nursing the only place for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner education! Alicia Rossiter, MSN, ARNP, FNP, PNP-BC Coordinator, Graduate Simulation USF College of Nursing
