4 Keynote Speaker: Julie Hoff, MPH, PhD, RN AIMMC is pleased to welcome Julie Hoff, MPH, PhD, RN to deliver our keynote address today. Dr. Hoff received her baccalaureate of science in nursing from Rush University. She earned a master's in public health, master of science in nursing, and PhD. in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in bio-behavioral science. Dr. Hoff has numerous publications in peerreviewed medical and nursing journals and has served on several NIH research grant teams. Leaning In to Evidence Based Practice This presentation integrates some of the most recent research to achieve the following objectives: Describe current state of evidence based practice utilization in nursing Explore the impact of Leaning In on the implementation and utilization of evidence based practice by nursing Examine how evidence drives change in health care delivery and nursing practice, educational preparation of nurses, and behavioral expectations of nurses and other health care providers Guest Speaker: Susann Nienhaus, RN, JD Susann Nienhaus is a Registered Nurse and attorney. After obtaining her nursing degree, cum laude, in 1979 she spent nearly 20 years focused on cardiovascular surgical nursing. In 1999 Ms. Nienhaus graduated from the IU School of Law at Indianapolis. As Director of Risk Management at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital from 2002 through 2007, Ms. Nienhaus developed and implemented a patient safety program that combined quality improvement initiatives and risk reduction efforts to improve departmental efficiencies and prevent healthcare errors. Ms.Nienhaus joined Strategic Healthcare Group LLC as Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety in September 2010.
